The weekend of April 17, 2026, VASTA members Sammi Grant and Phil Timberlake hosted the second annual Midwest Voice and Speech Gathering in Chicago! Following the event’s success in 2025, the 2026 event consisted of a group dinner, informal workshops and discussions, and a large focus on being in community together. A Member Enrichment Grant from VASTA provided refreshments for the event. Many thanks to The Theatre School at Depaul University for the use of their facilities.

Member Enrichment Grants are designated funds that support networking events and workshops for VASTA members. Please reach out to the Awards and Grants Committee to apply, and find more info on the Awards and Grants Overview on our website!

Join us to explore the evolving role of the vocal coach and the challenges in the rehearsal room and on stage!

Perhaps you were hired to be the production vocal coach or maybe you were hired to coach dialects and then were faced with production demands for actors to have more vocal energy, be louder, be clearer, utilize different parts of their pitch and/or resonance range and stay healthy. Suddenly you are responsible for it all!

We are currently inviting applications from emerging professionals seeking mentorship and established practitioners interested in serving as mentors.

In celebration of VASTA’s 40th anniversary, and our ongoing commitment to our values of collaboration and access, we are proud to launch a new Mentorship Program in 2026. At VASTA, we believe in the power of long-standing members lifting the next generation of voice and speech professionals, providing access to resources, connections, and opportunities for all.

This inaugural program is designed as an 8-week, cohort-based experience connecting emerging professionals with established educators and practitioners across the field. Through guided conversations, structured topics, and meaningful exchange, participants will gain practical tools, industry insight, and a stronger sense of professional identity.

We are heading for the hills for our retreat-style conference at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona! We have secured a limited number of VASTA Conference discounted rooms at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Pomona. This rate will expire on September 14, 2026 or when the rooms are sold out.

Rooms are available for Wednesday, October 14 – Saturday, October 17. A limited number of rooms are also available for Sunday, October 18, for those who wish to stay an additional night. If you would like to add Sunday night, make sure to edit the stay dates at the top of the reservation page.

In this 90-minute practical session, participants will learn how to organize and streamline their coaching materials for course creation using simple, effective systems and tools. The aim is to make it easier to deliver content, manage clients, and reduce repetitive administrative work.

Kayla Belush is the co-founder of Ambientium Group, a communication coaching consultancy working with international leaders who operate professionally in English. Her work focuses on helping bilingual professionals refine the vocal authority they bring into high-stakes environments such as executive meetings, presentations, and cross-cultural collaboration.

We will explore different platform options and a clear decision framework to help you choose the right course creation setup for your current stage of business.
