Dear Sermon On The Mount Family,
As I reflect on my final time standing behind the pulpit as Pastor of The Sermon On The Mount Church, my heart is filled with deep gratitude. From the bottom of my heart—thank you.
My journey with you began on January 1, 2012, when my family and I united with this church. Pastor Foster T. Mijares III poured into my life and prepared me for what God had already ordained. For a little over four years, he taught me—both through instruction and example—how to love God’s people and how to rely completely on the Lord in all matters concerning His church. Some lessons were taught, but many were caught.
When our beloved Pastor went home to be with the Lord on Palm Sunday 2016, God, in His providence, grace, and mercy, allowed me to become the third Pastor in this church’s storied history on March 31, 2016. I was humbled to lead God’s people in the way He saw fit. I had no experience, but the church loved me, prayed for me, and believed in me. All I ever wanted was to do God’s will.
As I look back over my time here at The Mount, I am grateful for all that God allowed us to accomplish together. In 2018, we organized the nonprofit C.U.P. of Empowerment Coalition—Community Unity Partnership. Through this ministry and our community partners, we have served over 71,000 people since 2018. But more than programs and numbers, I am most proud of the members of The Mount. I have watched God transform lives and families in ways that only He can. Though we were few in number, I would put the members of this church against any congregation—large or small—when it comes to doctrine and faithful practice.
I am grateful for the ten years God blessed me to serve here. The relationships we built together will always remain close to my heart.
As God leads me into my new assignment, I will continue to watch with joy and expectation to see how He prospers you in this next season—both corporately and individually.
You will forever be in my heart.
Love always,
Pastor Kwame Crosby
