Join the UCLA Latino Alumni Association before UCLA takes on Cal for an afternoon of food, games, music, and game-day energy.

Your ticket includes food, two beverages, games, music, and TVs throughout the tailgate.

A warm welcome to our newest Bruins 💙🐻

Last weekend, the UCLA Latino Alumni Association welcomed incoming students and their families to UCLA for our 2026 New Bruin Send-Off.

From student panels and family conversations to keynote speakers, campus resources, community partners, and time to connect, the day was all about helping new Bruins feel prepared, supported, and connected before the start of the academic year.

Thank you to every student, family member, speaker, volunteer, partner, and alumnus who helped make the day possible. We’re grateful to everyone who showed up to welcome the next generation of Bruins and share what it means to be part of UCLA.

To our new Bruins, this is only the beginning. From your first days at UCLA to everything that comes next, ULAA is here to support you! 💛

We are so excited to welcome our newest Bruins and their families at New Bruin Send-Off. ✨💙

Whether you are preparing to step onto campus for the first time, beginning your journey as a transfer student, or joining us as a parent or family member, we hope tomorrow reminds you of one thing: you are already part of this community.

We cannot wait to meet you, celebrate this next chapter with you, and introduce you to the people, stories, and comunidad that will be here to support you throughout your Bruin journey. 🫂

As we get ready for a meaningful day of comunidad, connection, and encouragement, we’re proud to spotlight Humberto Benitez, one of our Parent & Family Speakers. Humberto is a proud UCLA alumnus from the Class of 1990, earning his B.A. in History before going on to receive his J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law. His career has been rooted in public service, from his work with organizations such as CARECEN and MALDEF to nearly three decades as a Deputy Public Defender in Los Angeles County. In 2024, he was appointed as a Los Angeles County Superior Court Commissioner. 🐻

Humberto’s Bruin story is also deeply personal. He met his wife Claudia at UCLA, and both of their daughters, Elizabeth and Katherine, are UCLA graduates as well. As a parent, alumnus, and public servant, he brings a powerful perspective on supporting students through their UCLA journey while staying grounded in family, service, and community.

We are so excited for Humberto to share his experience with our new Bruins and their families tomorrow, and to remind them that they belong here and do not have to navigate this journey alone. 🙌🏼💙

As we prepare for a day centered on comunidad, guidance, and celebration, we’re proud to spotlight Sra. Elva Neyoy, one of our Parent & Family Speakers. Sra. Elva is a proud mother of three college graduates: Yasmine, a 2020 graduate of UC Irvine, Jonathan, a 2022 UCLA graduate, and Génesis, who just graduated from UCLA this past June 2026. Through her family’s journey, she has experienced firsthand what it means to support students as they grow, explore, and thrive in higher education. 🐻

Sra. Elva will share insight with families on topics such as study abroad, student job opportunities at UCLA, and the joy of celebrating milestones like the Hispanic/Latinx Graduation. Her daughter Génesis studied abroad in London in fall 2025, worked part-time with UCLA Campus Tours, volunteered with UniCamp, and took part in the 2026 Latinx graduation celebration, experiences that made a lasting impact on their family. Sra. Elva brings the perspective of a parent who has walked this path with love, pride, and deep belief in what is possible for our students.

We are so excited for Sra. Elva to join us tomorrow and speak directly to families about the many ways they can support their students while embracing the full Bruin experience together. 🙌🏼💛

These speakers have experienced many of the same questions, challenges, transitions, and uncertainties that can come with navigating UCLA and higher education. They are joining us to pay it forward, share what they have learned, and remind our new Bruins that you belong here, you are capable of succeeding here, and there is a community ready to support you along the way.

Meet Diego Bollo, a UCLA Class of 2026 graduate who earned his bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Labor Studies. During the 2025–2026 academic year, Diego served as UCLA’s Student Body President, representing approximately 33,000 undergraduate students. 💙

Throughout his time at UCLA, Diego partnered with campus units including Student Affairs, Government and Community Relations, the Hispanic Serving Institution initiative, and the Latinx Success Center to strengthen resources and opportunities for students. He also conducted research with the UCLA Labor Center and UCLA Voting Rights Project.

Diego is now beginning his Master of Public Policy program at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, continuing a journey centered on public service, advocacy, and creating stronger systems for students and communities. 🫂

We cannot wait for our new Bruins and their families to hear his story this Saturday. We are so excited to welcome you, connect as a community, and begin this next chapter of your Bruin journey together.

Meet Kimberly Fabian Marquez, a double Bruin, first-generation Latina, and daughter of Zapotec Mexican immigrants. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Kim’s experiences with structural inequities in her own community inspired her to build a career at the intersection of equity, research, advocacy, and management. 💙

As a UCLA undergraduate, Kim co-founded Let’s Go to College CA, a statewide resource hub that supported more than 10,000 students through the pandemic. She also completed an Honors Thesis examining Latinx teacher-student racial matching, research she later continued as a National Science Foundation scholar at UT Austin.

After graduating, Kim went on to become the youngest Program Director in the history of Kid City Hope Place, the same organization where she had once participated as a high school student, leading programming serving more than 300 young people annually.

Kim is now completing her MBA at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where she serves as the student body’s Vice President of Impact and continues her commitment to creating opportunity, strengthening communities, and paying forward the support that helped shape her own journey.

We cannot wait for our new Bruins and their families to hear her story this Saturday. We are so excited to welcome you, connect as a community, and begin this next chapter of your Bruin journey together. 🫂

Meet Alberto G. Juárez, a double Bruin, mental health advocate, and current medical student in the David Geffen School of Medicine’s PRIME-LA program. Alberto earned his bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience with a minor in Chicana/o Studies from UCLA and recently completed his Master of Science in Clinical Research at UCLA. 💙

He is also the founder of Hermanos Wellness Club, a community-centered initiative dedicated to changing the way Latino men talk about and care for their mental health through movement, cultura, and connection. Through his social media platform, Tío Beto Sanando, Alberto uses storytelling, lived experience, and culturally relevant conversations to challenge stigma and make mental health feel more approachable within Latino communities.

As a first-generation college student and son of Mexican immigrants, Alberto’s own UCLA journey has shaped his commitment to medicine, mental health, and serving communities like the one that raised him. He returns to ULAA’s New Bruin Send-Off with a message our newest Bruins deserve to hear: you belong at UCLA, and you have the power to create your own path.

Meet Antonio Sandoval Ayala, Director of UCLA’s Community Programs Office, where he leads work focused on basic and essential needs, community service, academic success, leadership development, external partnerships, and college preparation programs. 💙

Antonio has served as CPO Director since 2008 and has spent years collaborating with students, colleagues, alumni, and community partners to expand programs and services for low-income and first-generation students. He also chairs UCLA’s Basic and Essential Needs Committee and serves as President of the Latino Staff and Faculty Association.

A double Bruin, Antonio earned undergraduate degrees in History and Political Science and a master’s degree in Urban Planning from UCLA. He is currently completing his doctoral work in Higher Education Administration at Colorado State University.

We cannot wait for our new Bruins and their families to hear his story this Saturday. We are so excited to welcome you, connect as a community, and begin this next chapter of your Bruin journey together. 🫂
