We're excited to announce that PST ART, Southern California's largest arts collaboration, will return in 2030. The theme will explore the artistic and cultural exchange between Los Angeles and the Pacific Rim.

Previous PST editions touched on the intersection of art and science (2024–25), Los Angeles and Latinx art (2017–18), and Art in Los Angeles 1945–1980 (2011–12).

Getty will grant funding to institutions around Southern California to develop their own projects around this theme.

The inaugural PST ART Climate Impact Program Report was released this week by .

Produced for the latest edition of —the nation’s largest art event—the report is the most expansive dataset ever created on the climate impact of exhibition-making. The community-driven project tracks the carbon footprint of 40 projects at arts organizations across Southern California. With baseline measurements about carbon emissions, material waste, and more, the results will inform the next edition of PST ART in 2030.

What is a Human Atlas?

Through portraits, ancestral DNA, and oral histories, Marcus Lyon's Human Atlas platform captures and preserves the stories of changemakers who are inspiring and driving social justice in their streets, cities and beyond.

Getty is proud to collaborate on the Los Angeles edition, which features 100 individuals in LA County, all who were selected through an extensive nomination process. "Alta / a Human Atlas of a City of Angels" can be experienced online; on the app "Alta — A Human Atlas," via a weekly podcast, Intersections: Los Angeles, that launched today; and in an exhibition at the Los Angeles Public Library opening January 13, 2025.

Getty has named Justine Ludwig the inaugural creative director of PST ART—the nation’s largest art event that presents dozens of exhibitions and programs every five years on a single theme.

Justine comes to Getty from Creative Time, a pioneering public arts organization where she was executive director. Creative Time has realized 350+ public art projects, including “Moving Chains”—a 110-foot-long kinetic sculpture by Los Angeles-based artist Charles Gaines.

As PST ART continues to expand in scope and ambition, Justine’s leadership and expertise will be invaluable. The fourth edition of PST ART is scheduled to begin in 2030.

Today, Getty and a coalition of foundations, arts organizations, and individuals created the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund. Currently at $12M, the fund will support the arts community impacted by the Los Angeles fires.

The ongoing fires have destroyed residences, studios, archives, artworks, and places of employment for LA’s vibrant arts community.

Impacted artists and arts workers can visit cciarts.org to apply for an emergency grant starting on January 20.
