Two years ago, Dr. Osborne performed surgery to remove a 9-pound tumor that had been growing on the side of Tim’s face. Recently, Dr. Osborne traveled to Arizona to visit Tim at his home and see how he’s been doing two years after his surgery. At the heart of our practice is the belief that medicine is about more than treating a condition. It’s about getting to know the person behind it and being part of their journey through treatment and beyond.

The Osborne Head & Neck Foundation’s first Medical Mission to Ethiopia was a journey we will never forget. Our first journey took us across the world, where we saw more than 900 patients in triage, faced countless unexpected challenges, and even had our surgical trays confiscated for several days. Medical missions are not easy by any means, but every obstacle taught us something, strengthened our team, and reminded us why we were there. We came to Ethiopia to provide care to people who needed it most, and to bring hope to a place where, for many, hope was all they had left. What we experienced on that first mission inspired us to keep going. Since 2016, the Osborne Head & Neck Foundation has carried out additional medical missions around the world, continuing our commitment to providing specialized care, education, and hope to communities in need. Looking back, that first mission was more than a journey. It was the beginning of something much bigger. Join us as we revisit the Foundation’s first journey to Ethiopia and the mission that started it all. 🌍

Ron consults with Dr. Ryan Osborne at the Osborne Head & Neck Institute after being on a waiting list for surgery. A salivary gland stone had been blocking the flow of saliva, causing severe pain and making everyday life difficult. Thanks to Dr. Osborne and The Osborne Head & Neck Foundation, Ron was able to receive the care he needed and finally find relief. The OHNF Medical Scholars Program Class of 2026 has come to an end. In their final week, students explored the microbiology lab, presented at Grand Rounds, and proudly crossed the graduation stage after weeks of learning, mentorship, discovery, and growth.

While this chapter has closed, their journey is only beginning. At OHNF, we are honored to invest in the next generation of physicians and healthcare leaders by fostering a foundation built on compassion, integrity, excellence, respect for human life, and a commitment to serving others.

A single opportunity can shape the course of a career. Through the Osborne Head & Neck Foundation Medical Academy, aspiring healthcare professionals gain hands-on experiences and mentorship that help prepare them for the road ahead. Today, we're proud to highlight one of our alumni whose journey continues to inspire.

Natalie Campos, a member of the Medical Scholars Program (MSP) Class of 2021, recently shared an exciting update. After completing the program and participating in the 2022 Guatemala Medical Mission Trip, Natalie graduated from Gettysburg College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a concentration in Biomedical Sciences, and a minor in Spanish.

During her time at Gettysburg, Natalie mentored MSP students, served as a Resident Assistant, led the college's American Cancer Society chapter, and participated in public service initiatives in Puerto Rico, Colombia, and Costa Rica focused on healthcare, education, and community development. She also conducted cancer research throughout her undergraduate career, including a summer internship at the National Cancer Institute.

Today, Natalie is preparing to pursue a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, where she hopes to advance cancer research and contribute to the development of future treatments.

Reflecting on her journey, Natalie shared that she remains grateful for the mentorship she received during and after the Medical Scholars Program, as well as the opportunities that followed—experiences that helped shape both her career and her future.

We couldn't be prouder of Natalie and all she has accomplished, and we can't wait to see where her journey takes her next. 💙

Week 2 of the Medical Scholars Program
This week, our scholars took part in hands on medical experiences unlike any other. Opportunities like these are rarely available to students at this stage of their education, making each moment an invaluable step toward their future in medicine.
For years, the Medical Scholars Program has included a cadaver lab, but students previously had to travel off site and were limited to just a few hours. This year marked an exciting milestone. With the building up and fully operational, we were able to host the cadaver lab locally for the first time, expanding it to two full days. This allowed greater participation and gave students more time to deepen their understanding of human anatomy while refining their suturing and surgical skills through hands on learning.

These experiences are shaping future healthcare professionals, leaders, and advocates committed to lifelong growth and impact.

Week 1 of the Medical Scholars Program kicked off with an introduction to the program and an exciting week of learning and skill building.

Our scholars explored medical ethics, vital signs, SOAP notes, and a variety of medical specialties while building hands-on skills in knot tying and selecting their Grand Rounds presentation topics.

We wrapped up the week with one of the program’s highlights: Operating Room Orientation. This activity provides scholars with the preparation and confidence to step into the OR and observe live surgical procedures in the weeks ahead.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, these bright students are being challenged to think critically, learn new skills, and step outside their comfort zones. We cannot wait to see how they continue to grow in the coming weeks.

On Monday, we welcomed an extraordinary group of new Medical Scholars into the Foundation’s annual mentorship program. Over the next three weeks, these students will explore a wide range of medical disciplines through lectures, hands-on training in surgical knot tying, laboratory experiences, surgical observations, physician shadowing, and so much more.

Already, the scholars’ curiosity, passion, and determination have been impossible to miss. It is clear that these future healthcare leaders are not only exceptionally bright, but deeply motivated to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

To our families, donors, mentors, and supporters, thank you. Your belief in these students and this program creates opportunities that can truly change the trajectory of a young person’s life. Every lesson learned, every experience gained, and every moment of growth is made possible by a community that chooses to invest in the next generation.

Welcome to the Medical Scholars Program Class of 2026. This June, our incoming scholars will spend three weeks in this immersive opportunity where they will scrub into the OR, practice suturing and clinical fundamentals, present at Grand Rounds, engage in a cadaver dissection, and more. Throughout the program, scholars will train alongside a distinguished faculty of physicians and surgeons spanning more than a dozen specialties, each offering unique insight into the realities of practicing medicine. To our incoming scholars and their families, we're honored to have you join our community, and we look forward to an exceptional three weeks ahead!
