Students for Labor and Economic Justice

Students for Labor and Economic Justice A Loyola Marymount University student organization dedicated to promoting social justice on campus.

SLEJ's goal is to create a channel of communication between Loyola Marymount University campus workers and LMU'S students, faculty and administration to make sure that they are being represented in the decision-making process. We work to create a more inclusive campus environment that reflects the LMU mission statement and promotes social justice.

Hello Everyone! Wednesday, March 30th starting at 12:00 pm is the 10th Annual Worker Appreciation Luncheon, immediately following the Cesar Chavez Interfaith Service located at the LMU Sculpture Garden (which is directly next to the Sacred Heart Chapel). The luncheon this year is going to be full of great food, music, and just great people!

(Woo!)

The volunteer positions include the following (You may select more than one job, but please be advised that some volunteer opportunities overlap. Teachers' working conditions are students' learning conditions.

The plight of non-tenured professors is widely known, but what about the impact they have on the students they’re hired to instruct?

SLEJ Community, Enrique Ramirez is a LMU Community member that has worked for Facilities Management for over 15 years of his life. On January 19th, Enrique was unfortunately diagnosed with Stage 4 of metastatic cancer. As stated in the GoFundMe page: "Enrique is a father, husband, son, employee, leader, friend, and music and health enthusiast...Enrique has been away from work since December of 2014, and there is currently no clear timetable for his return. Your donation would help Enrique cover co-payments, deductibles, treatments, diet expenses, and personal care products."

With that being said, we would like to extend the invitation to the LMU SLEJ community to help support Enrique during this difficult time. No donating is a small donation, every little bit counts! His hard-work, commitment and love for the LMU community is one that is irreplaceable.

Enrique is a father, husband, son, employee, leader, friend, and music and health enthusiast. He has been independent and a provider his whole life. He has been working for LMU for over 13 years and he loves every aspect of his job. We love him so much. After weeks of pain, weight loss, doctor vi...
