Hey Drivers - lots of events this month! Let's check them out.

We don't usually do OCTO but OCTO kicks off SoCal VW week this Saturday, culminating with El Prado next Sunday the 13th. We will be discussing a cruise out for those who want to camp and those who just want to stay the day.

The following weekend on the 19th is Empi's open house and on the 20th is the Bug-In at Irwindale.

Don't miss our meeting this Saturday, June 5th, at Porter Ranch at 5pm to discuss the next two weeks!

DRIVERS! Just for fun, those who want to do something different this weekend can join Brendon for the Pre-Meet at Cupid's Hot Dogs in Winnetka. Cupids is hosting their monthly car show tomorrow and have their car hop service going. And while we can't break away in time to cruise down after our regular meet, we can always go before hand for a late lunch and roll together to Porter Ranch. See everyone tomorrow!

Hey drivers.

Some club news to be made official as we approach the show season. I know we've had a lot of ideas on what to do as a club especially during such a weird and turbulent time the world is in. I'd like to address the status of those ideas and make clear for everyone. There's been enough crossing wires and miscommunication between myself, our former VP Rodger, and the rest of the club.

For example, Club dues, club colors, club t shirts and stickers. My intention for dues has been two-fold; one reason was to collectively engage the group in purchasing new T-shirts and stickers for members. The other reason was to ensure everyone feels included and puts their skin in the game together.

However, I made the announcement this week that as an extension of my VW business, I know own and operate a new website that is exclusively apparel that is printed on-demand at a very reasonable cost delivered, without minimums or buying several shirts that aren't needed. The same goes for stickers, fliers, and other things we already have, simply consolidated.

Therefore, we no longer need to raise the funds as a group to make these things happen. So I'm announcing that we will no longer be considering club dues to be a member of Drivers Wanted, neither in whole or in part. If you wish to have a club t-shirt, simply ask me and we can get you one or ten ordered in a matter of minutes from my phone. If you wish to have a sticker, I'll be having new stickers made for the club in various colors.

Which brings me to the fact that as a club, we already have skin in the game with each other. This weekend in particular, and the last several months, have shown us who wants to be Drivers Wanted and who is willing to lay out some work so we can all have fun with our cars. We know who we are and who we want to hang with on a Saturday night, and that's not gonna change. As President of the club, the changes I'm focused on are consolidating our communication channels and increasing our reach, not collecting cash and selling swag to each other.

To summarize, there will be no club dues now or in the future as far as I'm concerned, and we do have T-shirts available VERY soon and anyone who wants to get one only needs to talk to me about it.

Hey Guys! It's that time of year again! Time for a cruise out the Old Sierra Highway to Acton for some grub!

When: We meet at 11am on Saturday, April 17th. Expect to cruise out around 11:30

Where: Meet at our regular spot: 19901 Rinaldi St, Porter Ranch.

We will be cruising the old road and avoiding freeways! All clubs and solo riders are invited to join us for this run.

Destination: Grizzly Bear's Burgers in Acton for some old fashioned burgers and shakes.

Hey Everyone, just an update on the current raffle! We're now 7 weeks in and a big thank you to everyone who has participated!

I've been getting asked "when is the raffle" and as things go along, I want to make sure everyone is updated.

Naturally, the raffle is based on sticker sales - buying a sticker is what qualifies a free ticket for one of the TEN prizes we're giving away! Literally, thousands of dollars worth of prizes are up for grabs for an $8 sticker and a ticket. As there are 600 stickers available, the odds of winning are 1:60 which is BETTER than the first raffle we did in January (1:100) and I think the stickers, alone, are worth the $8!

At the Ventura Vintage Volkswagens - Vintage Volkswagen Club of America Pier Meet at the end of February, I was hopeful we would be holding the raffle about now. Since we haven't met our target, let this post serve as an update that we are, as of this morning, at ticket #4875 and we need to get to ticket #5200 before we can announce a date and time for the raffle.

That's 325 stickers to go before we can hold the raffle!

To help speed this up, last week I started adding stickers to my eBay orders (which previously were not qualified, as this is a promotion for my website!) and I'm adding a 3 for $20 deal, which is the same deal I offered the fine people at the Pier Meet! I'd like to get the rest of these tickets sold this month so we can get the raffle on! Of course, if you submit a parts order of $50 or more, I'm also entering you automatically, too!

This Sunday March 28th will be Donovan's 94th birthday!! We will meet up with other clubs and solo riders for a cruise past Donovan's house to say Happy birthday in the best way us vdubbers know how. We will meet at the parking lot at Devonshire and Langdon at 930am. For the love of the Dub and the love for a great friend!

Black ribbons flying today.

This morning we held a moment of silence where we all hung out. For those who missed this mornings events we will hold another moment of silence and share our favorite memories. As a club, Tony was our brother and our friend.

Tomorrow at 11:15am we invite all of Tony's VW Family; all clubs and solo riders, to join us for a memorial cruise through Reseda culminating in a VW parade in his honor and for his siblings, children, and family at his home.

Friends and family of Drivers Wanted, the SFV VW scene, and of our brother Baja Tony -

having spoken to Tony's family, we've decided to hold a COVID-era memorial cruise-by Tony's home and then on to one of his favorite spots for grub. Please meet at our regular meeting spot Sunday, at 11:15am to partake in signing a card for Tony's family that will be presented by the club and on behalf of all of Tony's VW Family.

As tragic and painful as loss is, and we've all had to face this grief in the last year, there is a silver lining in knowing that Tony passed away peacefully in his home. So it's appropriate to swing by his house one more time, pay our respects, show love to his son and daughter and their families, and wave goodbye to our friend and brother, Baja Tony Lopez.

This will not be an opportunity to park and visit; but we will do two "laps" passed his home we will cruise to get lunch and depart from there.

Always quiet, humble, and smiling. I'm saddened to have learned that "Baja Tony" Lopez passed away earlier this month.

Drivers Wanted members, I urge you to join us tomorrow. We will be holding a moment of silence for our friend, member, and brother at 7:30am before our scheduled cruise to Ventura. A cruise that Tony will no doubt be riding with us in spirit.

If you can't make it in the morning, please come to our regular 5pm meet as we will also hold a moment of silence and share our favorite memories in celebration of his life at 7:30pm.

Both will be at our regular meet spot in Porter Ranch.
