They are making waves by dropping sky high salaries on the table, hoping to save some of their most struggling schools. We are talking a jaw dropping $100000 starting pay for teachers and up to $145000 for principals. Yes, you read that right. These are six figure offers that could turn the education world upside down.

This bold move is all part of their Accelerated Campus Excellence plan, zeroing in on campuses that have been fighting low scores and turbulent staff turnover for years. These schools have not exactly been easy to fix, but with money talking louder than ever, Fort Worth leaders are betting big that superstar teachers and powerhouse principals will come running and bring some lasting magic to these halls.

Is this risky play what these kids and their futures need? All eyes are on Fort Worth to see if hundreds of thousands can finally spark the change these schools deserve. We are watching a real life education cliffhanger unfold right now.

The gap started years earlier.

When we screen early and intervene early, we don’t just improve reading scores we change confidence, behaviour, and self-belief.

There is no benefit to waiting to see.

Educators have a responsibility to make sure that their classrooms feel safe and inclusive for students. Even small gestures can indicate annoyance or frustration which can cause students to feel isolated.

Now more than ever it’s important to be mindful of the environment that you create in your classroom. This doesn’t happen by chance. The space has to be curated with intention and care.

Make students feel comfortable engaging in their native language whenever possible in your classroom. Practice learning a simple word or phrase in their native language. Ask them questions about their family or the foods that they enjoy when it’s appropriate.

We may not have all the answers to their difficult questions right now, but we can give them peace and safety while they are in our care.
