After 11 years of celebrating photography in Los Angeles, Month of Photography Los Angeles will take a moment to pause, reflect and resurface with a new program that promises to engage the photographic community, local and global. Thank you to all of our friends and supporters who have championed this celebration in partnership with us. We are excited for the next iteration. Stay Tuned.

ChromaLuxe X Lucie Foundation Fine Art Scholarship: Focus on Juror, Yasufumi Nakamori

Yasufumi Nakamori is Tate Modern Museum senior curator of International Art (photography). Nakamori is responsible for organizing an exhibition program that involves photography, and for further building Tate’s photography collection. Previously, Nakamori worked at the Minneapolis Institute of Art where he headed the department of photography and new media and staged exhibitions with Leslie Hewitt, The Propeller Group, Omer Fast, Naoya Hatakeyama, and Amar Kanwar. From 2008 to 2016, he served as curator of photography at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, where he curated “Katsura: Picturing Modernism in Japanese Architecture Photographs by Ishimoto Yasuhiro (2010) and “For a New World to Come: Experiments in Japanese Art and Photography, 1968–1979” (2015).

A noted scholar of Japanese art and architecture, Nakamori has contributed to numerous exhibition catalogues and has taught graduate seminars at Hunter College and Rice University.

Sharbendu De is currently living deep in the forests of Arunachal Pradesh, India with the Lisu Tribe to complete his project with the help of the Photo Made Scholarship. We can't wait to see what he creates.
