Los Angeles Costume Swap was an organization that created creative events that demonstrated simple ideas for going Green for Halloween. "Working in partnership with ethical businesses, Southern California organizations and Mar Vista Farmers Market, we help parents and child-free adults discover how to save money on their costumes and introduce treat alternatives. From August to mid-October we col
lect costume donations and Halloween goodies that are donated to a local great cause (different cause each year.) Our Vision is to help people learn how to merge the best of dress-up with fun costumes that are more fun than potentially toxic disposable costumes that can be swapped with other community members for a new-to-you costume which means less garbage in landfills. In addition we want to help people discover GMO free snacks and treats which is not only healthier but better tasting! Cosplay has broken through the science fiction fantasy and comic book convention doors to include everyone that loves to wear costumes. Wearing costumes has a special kind of healing power that releases stress and helps shy people step into a confident persona. In addition, seeing a child thrilled in meeting and having fun with a recognized superhero or any fun character is magical."
