Hi gay-centered inner work aficionados,
I haven't been posting much on this page, but I think I'm going to do so more. I usually only write stuff on a private email chain for those who regularly attend the Gay-Centered Inner Work Club meetings where I like to comment on things going on in the world or cultural artifacts like films to provide a gay-centered psychoanalytic perspective, not to mention be able to work my gay psyche with you all.
So, here goes to anyone out there in Facebookland who might happen to read this...
Regarding the future of existence on the planet:
It seems apparent that we individual members of society are staring into an abyss — that is if we’re not in denial because it’s all too scary.
I don’t think I’m being hyperbolic in stating that the capitalist machine we’re all trapped in appears during this galling Trumpian fascistic period, to be inexorably headed towards unsustainably exponentially increasing wealth production for a tiny portion of the population leaving the rest of us pathetic laborers to desperately claw whatever we can of the crumbs to survive into old age, while devouring the planet’s resources and leaving behind ever more obscene amounts of waste and pollution to massively destroy our miraculous ecosystem as the amazing flora and animal life that have existed for eons increasingly suffer and die. It feels so overwhelming and horrifying to me.
And then there’s AI which, if it is heading towards some super ”intelligence” or singularity, as many predict, I think even if we’re not conscious of it has to be extremely worrying for us all, if not because it seems evident that no one really understands it ( I believe like cryptocurrency) and like a runaway train, it’s heading in a direction no one can really anticipate. I attached a link to an interesting interview with a big money manager for Citi about what he thinks is going to happen and what society should do. Keep in mind that Citi is considered one of the top three investors of fossil fuel destruction.
What comes up for me are questions like: as individuals with developing personhoods, how much can we take, emotionally, and how do we deal with what’s coming?
As I contemplate such nightmare futures on this gorgeous L.A. afternoon, I see how my toxic shame tells me that I’m bad for thinking such bad thoughts, I was raised after all to be pleasant and cheerful, like my mother. And in denial, which she massively was and which turned me into the “bad one” because a lot of the violence going on in the family came out through me. So in the trauma ball it’s hard for me to put on that happy face even while I’m torturously programmed to do it!
Besides, few people are trying to face the shadow and those that do tend to get demonized. Individuation, especially gaily so, is to be sure difficult for a lot of reasons. Also it’s such a beautiful day, I should just be able to enjoy it, right?!! Don’t I deserve to feel good?
In answer, the only thing I know for sure is that theoretically, as Jung offered, by facing such feelings of dread we can alchemize through psychological juggling the violence of the shadow and thereby affect the collective, even if in a miniscule way. Memories of child suffering at the utter mercy of a heteronormative upbringing that caused such terrible emotional damage, now in the murder ball, need to be put into mommy and daddy where it should go to be compassionately metabolized, visciously torturously, destroying them in the grossest ways imaginable to get to the extreme of the darkness of the psyche, there to miraculously experience an enantiodromic transformation from which the radiant double soul of the Eros ball is brought forth, to be involvingly sexually, sensually, emotionally relating with in the most ecstatically beautiful ways while imagining amazingly gay, intelligently, soulfully designed ecosystems of unparalleled utopian wonder, diversity, and vitality for all.
And back to the body ball of concrete, literal reality. It seems to make most sense to me, not so mention to thereby feel a profound sense of fulfillment, to practice such psychoanalytic juggling so that practically, at least our minds are so agile as to be able to most effectively handle what’s coming. And to practice such mental gymnastics knowing that there is a community of gay-centered inner workers who are interinvolvingly (even though we may only encounter each other online just a tiny bit of our lives) collectively — and here’s where it gets a little airy fairy -- generating such alchemical juice as I imagine it, like cu***ng into the ether where we spray our own dew of heaven which then falls into the ocean of the unconscious, there to lap onto the shore and from the foam of which Aphrodite Urania arises in our new Ganymedian Age as Justice who rights all the wrongs we as a barbaric species have wrought and helps usher in a new era of enlightenment.
