Breathe Southern California has a long history of public health engagement aligned with its 100 year-old mission to improve air quality and lung health through education, research and advocacy. Formed in 1903 to address the epidemic of tuberculosis and other lung-related diseases, the organization’s education and outreach efforts have resulted in significant reductions in incidences of TB and more stringent smoking laws.

This past weekend, we had the opportunity to join Discovery Cube Los Angeles for their amazing Health Fair! 🫁💙

We spent the day connecting with families and sharing the importance of lung health. We provided free lung screenings for adults and created a hands-on activity where kids could learn about how we breathe and see how asthma can affect airflow.

A special thank you to East Los Angeles College RT PEEPS 🫁🫁 who helped conduct the spirometry screenings and supported us throughout the event. 🫁✨

For families in Boyle Heights, cleaner air at home can help create a healthier, more comfortable environment where children can study, rest, and grow.

Breathe Southern California continues to provide air purifiers, clean-air education, lung-health resources, and direct support to families affected by the Lineage warehouse fire. But this work depends on community support.

We are deeply grateful to the City of Montebello for partnering with us to distribute 500 air purifiers to residents in Montebello and surrounding neighborhoods and cities.
