Ready To Succeed LA Ready To Succeed is a nonprofit career accelerator for college students in underserved communities.

In January 2016, two non-profit veterans, Romi Lassally and Patrick McCabe, saw the opportunity to transform outcomes with targeted support—to take the foster youth that were motivated, ambitious, and tenacious enough to make it to college and ensure they had the resources, relationships, and opportunities they needed to succeed there and in all facets of life. Romi and Pat believed that if every

college student impacted by foster care had the kind of support they needed when they needed it, they could be successful and have a shot at pursuing a future brighter than their past. Initially leveraging their own personal and professional networks, they began to close the opportunity and network gap their students faced. Encouraging others to start opening their own networks as well, the RTS network began to grow exponentially, creating a deep bench of caring and connected professionals across all industries and at every level of the career ladder. In January 2022, RTS expanded to include low-income first-generation college students. Along with students impacted by foster care, these first-gen Scholars have unique access to a diverse group of thought leaders, innovators, and passionate professionals who offer advice, opportunities, and a community of support. Today, our mission is to inspire college students in underserved communities to unlock their potential by providing them with the coaching, connections, and community they need to launch their careers and thrive.

Launched in 2020, the McCabe Impact Fellowship partners with local non-
profits to provide Ready to Succeed Scholars
with paid experiential learning opportunities.

Meant to bridge the gap in accessible career-building experiences, the
fellowship offers 10–12-week placements that equip Scholars with industry
experience, professional mentorship, and a $4,000 stipend.

At the end of the fellowship, Scholars gather to present on their experience with other scholars and our wonderful partner organizations.

In honor Foster Care Awareness Month, RTS Scholars, Alumni, and Staff had the opportunity to watch Angel City FC take on Utah Royals! While the first half ended 0-0, Angel City scored two goals in the second half to win the game 2-0 🥳

Ring the Bell! 🔔

Today, Ready to Succeed is celebrating RTS Alum Reeves for starting his new job as a project engineer at E.E. Reed!

After graduating from USC in 2022, Reeves entered the entertainment industry with successful internships at top Hollywood studios, including DreamWorks, Netflix, and HBO.

However, after these internships, Reeves decided to pivot away from entertainment. He was brave enough to put that dream on hold and tap into his many technical and project management skills.

At first, Reeves struggled to secure a project management job, finding the transition from entertainment challenging.

But thanks to YOU, Reeves stayed connected with RTS advisors well after graduation. With their support, he received crucial feedback on his resume, identified transferable skills, and honed his interview techniques. And now, it has all paid off with this incredible new opportunity!

RTS Alumni Spotlight: Javen!

In 2017, Javen joined Ready to Succeed while graduating from USC and beginning his journey to become a lawyer. The road wasn't easy—navigating LSAT prep, FAFSA, and housing felt overwhelming.

But with RTS advisors by his side, Javen tackled every challenge head-on.
Fast forward to today: Javen made history at Georgetown, becoming the FIRST to earn a JD, MBA, and Master’s in Economic Law!

"RTS gave me the mentorship, funding, and career guidance I needed to achieve my dreams of becoming a full-time lawyer."
