For the past twenty-five years, Garment Worker Center has been at the forefront of organizing and building power alongside workers in this industry. Through on the ground worker organizing, mutual aid, legal representation, our staffing cooperative, campaigns, and youth organizing, we have evolved into a dynamic unit that, every day, helps workers navigate a cross-cutting set of issues, from wage theft to immigration to upskilling to worker safety and beyond. Our work has proven vital to the community we serve and has grown deeper over the past several years.

Unfortunately, this summer we have experienced funding delays that challenged our operations and staff. We are resilient and working through it with rigorous fundraising with traditional funders. As we do so, we are now asking our community for help in raising $15,000 in operational funds to help bridge a lean month of revenue, and keep our programs resourced so we can continue moving forward in our mission to build power with garment workers.

Garment workers are coming together to learn from and with one another — without the pressure of production deadlines. Our Skill Share Center will empower workers to gain knowledge and confidence through cross-training on multiple machines. The industry will benefit from a more competitive and versatile workforce.

Your donation directly supports workers building skills, confidence, and community and the increased competitiveness of LA’S Garment Sector.

*A note on condition: We welcome machines and materials in good working condition — ready to use or in need of minor repair (please let us know). We ask that fabric donations be usable yardage or larger pieces so our members can practice and learn with dignity.
