๐Ÿšจ Take Action!

Sign the petition supporting LABWCโ€™s Charter Reform recommendations!

Weโ€™re fighting for real changes to Los Angelesโ€™ city charter. Fair access to public-sector jobs, stronger career pathways, and accountability that ensures Black workers arenโ€™t locked out of opportunity. But we still need to show City leaders that our communities stand with these recommendations.

โœ๐Ÿพ If you havenโ€™t signed the petition yet, now is the time!
๐Ÿ“ฒ Sign before Thursday and share the petition with your friends, family, and community.

Stand with Black workers. Stand with working families. Help build an LA that works for ALL. Letโ€™s finish strong and push these recommendations forward.

Today is June 2nd.

Medgar Evers was born on this day in 1925. He was assassinated on June 12, 1963 for organizing Black voters in Mississippi. His birthday falls on this primary election day โ€” the same election happening one month after the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act his movement helped build.

We name that because it is true. And because truth is how we stay grounded.

Polls are open. Find your polling place. Vote.

๐Ÿ“ข Black workers, we need to hear from you!

If you have experienced employer discrimination, your voice matters.

Employers have exploited Black workers and infringed on our rights for far too long. As we fight against these inequalities, it is essential to have community support.

Sound On! ๐Ÿ”Š

The working people of Los Angeles are the ones who make this city run, but too many Black workers continue to face barriers to stable public-sector careers.

Thatโ€™s why we are fighting for Charter Reform recommendations that push for fairer hiring systems, stronger pathways into city careers, and real accountability when inequities show up in the process.

Weโ€™re calling for the just and equitable reformation of LAโ€™s city charter now! Let's make sure this new city charter holds space for ALL the communities it serves.

Join us as we continue to organize and speak up. Every signature shows that people across Los Angeles are demanding a city that is more equitable, accessible, and accountable.

A fair system starts with a transparent process โœŠ๐Ÿฟ

Too many Black workers are locked out of stable public-sector careers by hiring systems that feel unclear, inconsistent, and inaccessible. Weโ€™re fighting for Charter Reform recommendations that bring greater transparency and accountability to city hiring practices, because workers deserve to understand how decisions are made and have a fair shot at these opportunities.

Transparency builds trust. Accountability creates access. And equitable systems create pathways to long-term careers and economic stability for our communities.

Your vote doesn't matter to who?

The courts gutted the Voting Rights Act. Voter ID is coming for the ballot in November. They've been telling Black Californians their vote doesn't count for decades.

That's exactly why you need to use it.

Early voting starts today May 23rd. Election Day is June 2nd.

For years, the 5401 Crenshaw site has sat vacant in the heart of the Crenshaw District, a historic Black working neighborhood, while residents continue to face rising displacement and increasing development pressure.

The 5401 Crenshaw Project is a community-driven effort to reimagine the site in a way that reflects the needs and priorities of Crenshaw residents, ensuring development in South LA happens with the community, not to the community.

Through outreach, canvassing, and community surveys, Crenshaw residents made their priorities for the site clear:

๐Ÿก Prevent displacement and invest in the Black community
๐Ÿค๐Ÿฟ Create more community gathering spaces
๐Ÿ’ผ Build pathways to high-quality jobs and career opportunities
๐Ÿ  Address housing affordability and stability
๐Ÿ›๏ธ Support small businesses and affordable retail
๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿพ Improve mobility and street safety
๐Ÿฅ— Expand health, wellness, and food access
๐ŸŒณ Invest in beautification and infrastructure
๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿพ Support youth, families, and intergenerational needs

This work is about ensuring South LA residents can continue to live, work, and thrive in the communities they call home.

Join us in building a future shaped by and for the community.

The LA Black Worker Center is asking everyone in our community to vote in this primary โ€” not because it solves everything, but because who advances to the general determines who is in office when the bigger fights of 2026 arrive.

Local government decisions impact our everyday lives. The types of jobs and housing available in our communities, the public transportation and public safety, and how much is invested back into our communities. It's all up to those who run the city; the people WE choose.

That is why we must get involved, and that looks like voting in the upcoming primary elections. ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ

When we show up, speak out, hit the streets, and stay engaged, we have the power to shape policies that reflect our needs and protect our futures. Change starts right here.

Take action. Go Vote! โœŠ๐Ÿพ
