The Duchenne Brothers Foundation Charity Golf Tournament is raising funds to help athletes with Duchenne and other disabilities compete in Power Soccer Nationals—an opportunity that means everything to these kids.

Travel, lodging, and tournament costs add up quickly. Without support, many of these athletes simply wouldn’t get the chance to compete.

As a Duchenne mom, I know firsthand that this journey doesn’t pause. The needs don’t slow down. And the families walking this path are doing everything they can, every single day.

Right now at Walking Strong, we’re hearing from more families who need support — equipment that can change daily life, and mindset coaching that helps them keep going through incredibly hard moments.

⚽ Power Soccer Is Changing Lives ♿💙

As we recognize Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, the City of Burbank is shining a spotlight on Powerchair Soccer, one of the fastest-growing adaptive sports for athletes who use power wheelchairs. A newly released spotlight video highlights athletes from Burbank’s Power Soccer program and celebrates inclusive recreation ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Powerchair Soccer blends strategy, speed, and teamwork, giving athletes the chance to compete, build confidence, and experience the joy of being part of a team. Programs like this are helping create more opportunities for individuals with disabilities to stay active, connect with others, and showcase their incredible abilities.

For many families in the Duchenne community, adaptive sports like Power Soccer are more than a game. They provide freedom, belonging, and the thrill of competition that every athlete deserves.
