Interested in public interest law and organizing?
Professor Thalia González is currently accepting applications for 1-2 students to work as law and organizing interns at Public Counsel in Spring 2019.
Students will work under the supervision of Public Counsel's Opportunity Under Law Project community organizers and attorneys on settlement implementation in the case of Rodriguez et al v. City of Los Angeles. Flexible hours, but must be available at least one day a week and/or evenings depending on community meetings and other organizing activities (approx. 8-10 hours). Commitment to social justice required. Students with prior experience in community organizing and/or law will be given preference. Must be comfortable working in diverse communities and with individuals who may be system-involved. Spanish desired, but not required. Primary work location will be at Public Counsel's office and within community settings. On-campus supervision by Professor González will occur a 2- or 4-unit independent study.
