A PSA from our friends at the Braille Institute

Join us in Los Angeles for Through My Eyes, a group exhibition celebrating artwork created by blind and visually impaired artists from Braille Institute.

Curated by artist and educator Lenny Gerard, the exhibition brings together more than 30 artists, ranging in age from 18 to 82, and approximately 50 works of art across painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, collage, and other media.

But Through My Eyes is more than an art show. It invites visitors to rethink how we experience art—and who gets to participate in the art world.

Designed with accessibility at its center, the exhibition includes tactile elements, Braille, audio descriptions, QR-accessible content, and interactive experiences. Visitors will also be able to try vision-impairment simulation glasses that demonstrate different forms of visual impairment, offering another perspective on how people experience and navigate the world.

Many of the participating artists developed their work through accessible art classes at Braille Institute, where traditional techniques are adapted so that creativity isn’t dependent on sight.

Opening Reception - Date, Time and Location:
Saturday, August 22 from 3:00–7:00 PM
E2 Art Gallery 1215 W. Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90007

The opening will include refreshments and opportunities to meet participating artists.

The exhibition will be on view August 21–27, 2026.

Come experience art through touch, sound, texture, memory, imagination—and a different point of view.

Free and open to the public. All are welcome.

Today, Sports and Recreation for the Blind teamed up with Nature For All for an awesome day at Placerita Canyon! 🌿🥾

We had almost 50 participants, staff, and volunteers out on the trails enjoying the fresh air, good company, and everything nature has to offer. It was one of those days that reminds you how important it is to get outside and connect with others.

This was also our second outing with SRB’s Sports and Recreation for All program, where blind, visually impaired, and sighted participants come together to experience the outdoors as one community. Seeing everyone encourage each other, make new friends, and just have a great time is what it’s all about.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us today and to Nature For All for partnering with us. We can’t wait to see everyone on the next adventure! 💙🌲
