October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

The first person who can advocate for your health is you. Early breast cancer may have no symptoms, which is why awareness, recommended screenings, and speaking with a healthcare provider about unusual changes are so important.

This month, let’s share accurate information, encourage screenings, participate in awareness events, and support those affected by breast cancer. If you would like to learn more information about breast cancer or find support, go to: Komen.org. Together, we can spread knowledge and make a difference. 💗

September is Hunger Action Month 🥫📣 🍎

This is a time to raise awareness on food insecurity and offer ways to help others through volunteering, advocating, or donating food.

Take action by finding a local food pantry in your community or an organization dedicated to aiding those who are experiencing food insecurity and volunteer to help provide food to those in need.

If you are in need of food resources on campus, check out the CSUN Food Pantry in The Valera Nest or use Mata Bites from the CSUN app to get free food.

September is National Food Education Safety Month. 🍅✨🥑✨🍎

September was chosen in 1994 to recognize the individuals, institutions , and companies that collaborate to protect food from pathogens that cause foodborne illnesses.

This month also focuses on educating the public on how they can practice food safety at home.

By following simple food safety steps, such as cleaning hands and food, separating raw meat, cooking and chilling food properly, you can reduce the likelihood of foodborne illness in yourself, friends and family.🫧🧑‍🍳🥩

Today we recognize National Women’s Equality Day 🩷🤎✨

Observed on August 26, this day commemorates the adoption of the 19th Amendment and the generations of women whose courage, persistence, and advocacy helped advance voting rights in the United States.

It’s also a reminder that progress continues. From equal opportunities and representation to leadership and economic equality, we all have a role in creating a more inclusive future.

Celebrate today by learning about women’s history, supporting women-led businesses, recognizing the inspiring women in your life, and continuing conversations that encourage equality and empowerment. 💪🏽🌷

Honor the past. Celebrate progress. Keep moving equality forward.
