The San Fernando Valley's second oldest cemetery - a historic landmark San Fernando Pioneer Memorial Cemetery was established in 1874 as Morningside Cemetery.

It is the second oldest cemetery in the San Fernando Valley, and contains the remains of five Civil War veterans and notable residents of the area. The cemetery is a California State historic site and a Los Angeles cultural-historic landmark. Burials ceased in 1939 and vandalism has taken its toll. Only 13 tombstones remain. The San Fernando Valley Historical Society became the caretaker after the

Native Daughters of the Golden West transferred ownership in 2002. The cemetery is overseen by the SFVHS Pioneer Cemetery Committee headed by Joyce Gaynor and Tom Weissbarth (co-chairs). Tours are conducted on the third Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to Noon, and community volunteers are encouraged to help maintain the cemetery, which is run entirely by volunteers with public donations. All proceeds go to the upkeep of the cemetery as we rely on donations only!

We are in need of donations of gently used items for our upcoming rummage sale on September 5th❤️

We will be accepting donations at the Andres Pico Adobe! See flyer for dates and times. Be sure to let the main office know you’re there to drop off.

We will accept gently used items. No bulky furniture.

-Books & Media (No large books such as encyclopedias/reference books)
