bardo LA

bardo LA bardoLA bardoLA is inspired by the Tibetan Buddhist concept of bardo as the intermediate state between two lives on Earth.

bardoLA is a Los Angeles based nonprofit arts organization dedicated to fostering international exchange of arts and culture via traveling exhibitions and events; and curating art exhibitions in the public sphere. According to Tibetan tradition, bardo is a space of great potential for liberation and enlightenment: when one's consciousness is not bound to a physical body, it is believed to be open to transcendental insight. However, bardo is also a potentially dangerous ground as its uncertain vastness likewise allows for our less desired traits and karmic baggage to come to the surface and possibly overtake us with their darkness. In its essence, bardo is a place of change where our usual way of life becomes suspended, a place that is both frightening and exhilarating at the same time. bardoLA was born in such a space and, after some uncomfortable encounters with the less desired aspects of what it is to be human, it emerged into being with excitement, exhilaration and newfound adaptability. bardoLA, while based in Los Angeles, is not attached to any traditional exhibition space, striving instead to remain fluid, free and open to change. bardoLA was launched on the summer solstice, June 21, 2014.
