Dear LAFACE Members,
We stand in solidarity with those who are affected by the recent devastating fires. Our thoughts are with the families and communities impacted, and we extend our deepest gratitude to the courageous first responders, including Los Angeles Fire Department, Los Angeles Police Department, and all emergency personnel working tirelessly to protect lives and property.
This is a reminder of the importance of being prepared for emergencies. As we live in a region prone to wildfires and other natural disasters, let’s take proactive steps to ensure our safety:
• Pack a go-bag with essential supplies.
• Create an emergency plan with your family, including an emergency contact list.
• Stay informed by following updates from local agencies like the Emergency Management Department (EMD).
• Check your home’s safety—ensure smoke detectors and fire extinguishers are in working condition.
If you or someone you know needs support, here are some important resources:
Evacuation & Shelter Assistance:
Visit the City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department website for a list of shelters and evacuation zones.
Air Quality Alerts:
The South Coast Air Quality Management District advises staying indoors during poor air quality periods. Use air purifiers or air conditioners with clean filters and avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
Free Rides for Evacuees:
• Lyft: Use code “CAFIRERELIEF25” for two free rides (up to $25 each).
• Uber: Use code “WILDFIRE25” for two free rides (up to $40 each).
Power Outages:
Stay updated on power outages via LADWP’s newsroom, Twitter (), and NextDoor. Report outages at 1-800-DIAL-DWP or online. Always treat downed power lines as live and dangerous.
Support for the Unhoused:
LAHSA continues to provide outreach and distribute hotel vouchers to individuals in high fire-risk areas. For more information, call 211.
Mental Health Support:
If you or someone you know is struggling during this difficult time, please contact LA County’s Mental Health ACCESS Center at (800) 854-7771 for support.
Let us come together as a community to support one another during these trying times. Stay vigilant, stay prepared, and above all, stay safe.
Sincerely,
Your LAFACE Family
