For many of the wounded, the hardest part of recovery begins once emergency care ends.
Since October 7, many young soldiers and civilians have faced long roads of recovery after spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, and limb loss. At Sheba, rehabilitation teams are walking that road with them every day.

By combining clinical expertise, advanced technology, research, and care designed around each individual, Sheba is redefining what rehabilitation can look like. For each patient, that means regaining strength, independence, and the confidence to keep moving forward.

Sheba stands with the patients, survivors, hostage families, wounded soldiers, and all who are still recovering and rebuilding their lives. Your strength and resilience inspire us every day.

And we are grateful for the physicians, nurses, rehabilitation specialists, mental health professionals, and broader Sheba team who have been caring for our community every day since. In rehabilitation wards, counseling rooms, and the Fifth Element Healing Forest, they continue to show up, day after day, for as long as healing takes.

Three years after October 7, Sheba's teams continue to care for the people whose lives changed that day, including victims of prolonged and complex trauma.

For hostages returning home after captivity, and for the families who waited for them, healing required care that addressed every part of what they endured. That meant a coordinated response across medicine, psychology, rehabilitation, and family support.

Sheba brought experts together around each patient and created new protocols for every stage of the journey home. Along the way, Sheba's teams have helped shape a new model for treating complex trauma, one that cares for the body, the mind, and the whole family, for as long as healing takes.

In the wake of October 7, Israel faced medical, psychological, and humanitarian needs on an extraordinary scale. Experts estimate that at least half of all Israelis are carrying psychological wounds that will take years to heal.

Sheba responded by creating the care that was needed. Our teams built new trauma and mental health programs from the ground up, uniting clinical treatment, research, technology, education, and community support in one integrated model.

This work is advancing new approaches to assessment, early intervention, digital care, and personalized treatment, and every lesson in how people and communities recover will strengthen mental health care in Israel and around the world.

After October 7, pediatric neurologist Dr. Carly Dabinski and her husband decided to leave their life in Melbourne and move to Israel with their four children, wanting to be part of the Jewish story and closer to the heart of the Jewish world.

Healing begins when mother and baby are cared for together. That's why Sheba's Chava Center, Israel's national referral center for perinatal psychiatry, has opened a dedicated ward for severe postpartum conditions, including postpartum psychosis, where mothers receive specialized treatment with their babies by their side and their families are involved every step of the way.

Sheba is setting a new standard for maternal care, making sure mothers are met with understanding at every stage of their journey.
