The Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer has reached a new milestone in advanced rehabilitation treatments. Thumb osseointegration surgery uses innovative technology to anchor a prosthetic thumb directly to the bone, the first time such a technique has been used in Israel.
Led by Dr. Firass Lahham of Sheba's Department of Hand Surgery and Limb Salvage Surgery alongside Prof. Rickard Brånemark of Sweden, this procedure has the potential to improve comfort, stability, and function, helping patients regain some of the hand's most essential abilities.

At 77, Ada Remer became Israel’s oldest kidney donor, giving her husband Yaakov the ultimate gift of a healthier life.

Their transplant at The Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer was a success, and within days of surgery, Ada was already back on her feet. As Prof. Eitan Mor, Director of the Sheba Kidney Transplant Center, shared, “As long as the donor’s physical condition meets the criteria, there’s no reason not to do it, and Ada is living proof.”
