In our most tangible incarnation we are a women-lead creative coworkspace. On a broader level, we are an enabling architecture pr

oviding professional, emotional and artistic nourishment for female driven creative projects. Since our founding in November 2013 we have built a network of over 1,500 women committed to supporting each other socially, creatively and economically and building the structures (physical and transcendental) that maximize connectivity and empower us collectively. The project is simultaneously the work of its main collaborators –designer Kate Johnston and producer Sarah Williams– as well as a platform for our growing community’s ideas, works and projects. Through our Nodes Program we incubate kindred projects by providing insight, consultation, and access to our network.

We’re so pleased to announce Feminist Center for Creative Work’s Spring 2025 Artist in Residence, Mahjong Mistress (MM), a community-focused organization centered around the game of mahjong.

Through this residency, Mahjong Mistress invites the FCCW community to embrace Mahjong not only as a game, but also as a tool for storytelling, shared history, and creative collaboration—a reminder of the ways women have always found strength and connection in the spaces they create together. MM will offer Mahjong lessons and share the cultural and feminist histories associated with the game.

🎲 We’re beginning this residency with an event on Saturday, March 8, 7–10PM, Women and Mahjong: Stories from the Table. MM will give a talk and then offer lessons — no experience necessary, come learn and play. RSVP in bio to attend!

We’re absolutely delighted to feature an excerpt from Vera Blossom’s book How To F**k Like A Girl, in our February newsletter! From hooking up to trans witchcraft, petty crime, capitalism, friendships, divorce, and survival, Vera Blossom brings wit and melancholy, grandeur and smarts, debuting a bright literary voice as raunchy as it is heartfelt. You can find her book and in our bio 💝

🎹 Feminist Synth Lab is hosting a Library Open House on Sunday, February 23, 1–4PM at FCCW!

We’ll be showcasing a ton of exciting new additions to the library, so come demo gear at our listening stations and meet some fellow borrowers :) Please bring your own headphones and sign up to be a member of the library on our website (link in bio, click login at the top) before attending, if you haven’t already signed up!

Feminist Synth Lab prioritizes all marginalized genders, including but not limited to trans women, cis women, trans men, non-binary, intersex, gender nonconforming, two-spirit and questioning folx. We ask that our cis male allies and friends respectfully do not sign up, as we recognize that electronic music is overwhelmingly dominated by cis men.

🎁 On Sunday, December 8, noon-6PM we’ll be hosting a market, where you can buy gifts for your loved ones, including titles from Co–Conspirator Press, as well as other books, zines, ceramics, and goodies from artists, plus we’ll have snacks & drinks!

We’re also celebrating Transchool Vol. 1 with readings from 2–4PM by Ali Liebegott, Sylvan Oswald, Esti Giordani, and Shoshana Katz, along with participants in Transchool. Now is an excellent time to buy this book to support trans writers (in bio)!

This anthology was inspired by the mutual aid project , and it’s an ideal time to donate toward their mission of bringing a sense of care and family to trans youth.

We hope to see you at the market/celebration!
