LIUNA Local 724

Local 724 is affiliated with LiUNA. On February 1,1929 we receive our charter.

Our union has a long and successful relationship with the TV and Film Industry, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Outfront Media. We represent the Utility Workers in the Motion Picture Ind., and also work in Theme Parks and Outdoor media in So Cal. We support the Carpenters, Painters, Electricians, Plumbers, Plasterers, Sheet Metal Workers and other crafts in TV and Film Prod.

Today, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced a settlement in the Warner Bros./Paramount litigation that includes enforceable commitments aimed at protecting film and television production, workers, and jobs. The agreement includes at least $1.5 billion in additional domestic film production investment, a $47.5 million workforce fund, and multi-year film release commitments.

We appreciate Attorney General Bonta and his team for their engagement throughout this process, and we recognize Paramount’s continued investment in California’s entertainment industry and its workforce.

Thousands of LIUNA members help power this industry every day, and we look forward to seeing these commitments create continued opportunities for workers and communities across California.

We need to bring film and television production back home. 🇺🇸

Thousands of working families across the entertainment industry depend on a strong U.S. production economy. A federal film and television incentive could help keep productions here, protect and create American jobs, and strengthen the communities and small businesses that rely on this industry.

LIUNA is proud to stand alongside the DGA, IATSE, Teamsters, SAG-AFTRA, Writers Guild of America East, Writers Guild of America West, and other unions, guilds, studios, producers, and industry organizations supporting this effort. The coalition brings together different parts of the industry around the shared goal of strengthening film and television production in the United States.

Our LIUNA members help build the studios and sound stages where productions happen, and they also work directly on film and television productions in classifications ranging from construction Laborers to production assistants.

As LIUNA General President Brent Booker stated:

“LIUNA strongly supports the call for tax incentives for motion picture and television production to happen in the United States. These tax incentives will help ensure that the thousands of LIUNA members who work in the motion picture and television industry — from construction Laborers to production assistants — have their jobs protected and opportunities expanded. This is a bipartisan, pro-job, pro-entertainment industry initiative that has LIUNA’s strong support.”

It’s time to invest in American production, protect American jobs, and expand opportunities for the workers who make this industry possible.

Labor Day is a time to honor the hardworking men and women whose dedication, skill, and sacrifice have built our communities and strengthened our country. It is also a reminder that the progress working families enjoy today was made possible by generations of workers standing together for dignity, fairness, and opportunity.

AB/SB 186 Passes — Protecting California Film & TV Jobs

Great news for California’s film and television workforce. AB/SB 186 has passed the Legislature and will now head to Governor Newsom for his signature.

This legislation makes important corrections to SB 122 that help protect the strength and competitiveness of California’s Film & Television Jobs Program 4.0. These changes are critical to keeping productions and the good union jobs that come with them here in California.

This victory came because entertainment workers and unions across our industry spoke up. Our members made their voices heard and helped lawmakers understand the real impact these changes would have on working families and California’s entertainment industry.

Thank you to everyone who took action and stood together. This is what happens when labor speaks with one voice.

LIUNA Local 724 is proud to endorse Ralph Velador for Palmdale School District Board of Trustees, Area 1.

Ralph has spent his career standing up for working families, veterans, students, and our communities. As Organizing Coordinator for the Laborers Pacific Southwest Regional Organizing Coalition, he has been a strong voice for workers and the families we represent.

A proud veteran and Commander of American Legion Post 348, Ralph has also helped lead efforts to support local veterans — including partnering with LIUNA Local Unions through Laborers Rising to connect veterans in Palmdale with essential services and resources.

As a member of the Palmdale School District Board of Trustees, Ralph has worked to modernize school facilities while helping create good-paying, union construction jobs that strengthen our schools, support working families, and invest in the entire community.

At LIUNA Local 724, we know that when we invest in our students, support working families, and create quality union jobs, we build stronger communities and a stronger future.

Ralph Velador shares those values, and LIUNA Local 724 is proud to stand with him for Palmdale School District Board of Trustees, Area 1.
