We're hiring! FoLAR is looking for a Substitute Environmental Educator to help lead our award-winning Source to Sea field trips for K-12 students along the LA River.

This part-time, as-needed role is perfect for someone passionate about outdoor education and getting kids excited about the river through hands-on, STEAM-based learning. Flexible scheduling, $20/hr, mostly weekday school hours with occasional weekends and evenings.

We're looking for someone with experience working with K-12 students in outdoor or educational settings, reliable transportation around LA County, and Spanish fluency is highly preferred.

FoLAR is committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the LA River communities we serve.

Riverfest is on Sunday!

With 75 exhibitors, artists and community partners who are coming to hang out, it’s going to be our biggest party yet. We're turning 40 this year and throwing our biggest party ever to celebrate.

Friends of the Los Angeles River is hosting our fifth annual RiverFest - a FREE open-air environmental arts and community festival celebrating the culture, history, and people that shape the LA River.

Join us Sunday, August 9th at LA State Historic Park for a marketplace with local artists, thrilling live performances, new interactive eco-activities for the whole family and delicious food from some of L.A.'s best food trucks.

We're halfway through this year's River Fellows program, and it's already been a full few months.

So far, our Fellows have gone kayaking on the LA River, spent nights camping together, joined FoLAR's Earth Day Habitat Restoration Day, hiked through Elysian Park, and spent two days at Lewis MacAdams Riverfront Park for a Family Day and a Source to Sea field trip, following the River from where it begins to where it meets the ocean.

There's much more still to come.

This program is another community access project through the California Natural Resources Agency to improve youth access to natural and cultural resources. We're grateful for every Fellow who's shown up this year, and for everyone who's helped them get to know this River a little better.

One month until RiverFest! 🎉

On August 9, we're taking over LA State Historic Park for our fifth annual celebration of the River, and this one lands in FoLAR's 40th anniversary year, so we're really going to party.

Live music, local food, hands-on activities, and thousands of your fellow River lovers. Free to attend, easy to reach by Metro, and if you bike, you'll get an exclusive sticker and our undying respect.

Mark your calendar, tell your favorite people, and we'll see you at the park. 🌊
