The first weekend of the 36th Annual Great LA River CleanUp is done!

Thank you to the 222 volunteers who braved the heat at Willow Street Bridge in Long Beach and Steelhead Park. Together we:

Pulled 4,054 pounds of trash from the River
Filled 390 bags
Cleaned 0.31 miles of riverbank

That's more than two tons of litter that won't make it to the ocean.

We're not done yet. Join us next weekend at Compton Creek, the Sepulveda Basin, and back at Steelhead Park. Sign up at the link in our bio.

Join Friends of the LA River for a night of bats, brews, and River magic at Frogtown Brewery.

We’ll go for a sunset stroll along the River to spot some LA bats in their natural habitat and then learn all about these amazing creatures that call Los Angeles home over some tasty local beers at Frogtown Brewery.

Registration is open for the 36th Annual Great LA River CleanUp.

For 36 years, Angelenos have come together to restore their River by picking up litter. This year we're at four sites over two weekends.

Sat, Oct 3 — Willow St. Bridge (Long Beach) and Steelhead Park (Elysian Valley)
Sat, Oct 10 — Steelhead Park (Elysian Valley), Sepulveda Basin Sports Complex, and Compton Creek

Come help us restore habitat, improve water quality, and protect local wildlife. We provide gloves, trash pickers, bags and buckets. Bring closed-toe shoes and a love for the LA River.

We're hiring! FoLAR is looking for a Substitute Environmental Educator to help lead our award-winning Source to Sea field trips for K-12 students along the LA River.

This part-time, as-needed role is perfect for someone passionate about outdoor education and getting kids excited about the river through hands-on, STEAM-based learning. Flexible scheduling, $20/hr, mostly weekday school hours with occasional weekends and evenings.

We're looking for someone with experience working with K-12 students in outdoor or educational settings, reliable transportation around LA County, and Spanish fluency is highly preferred.

FoLAR is committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the LA River communities we serve.
