Company of Angels (CoA) Founded in 1959 by Leonard Nimoy, Richard Chamberlain, and Vic Morrow, Company of Angels is L.A's ol

Founded in 1959 by a group of television and film actors that included Richard Chamberlain, Leonard Nimoy and Vic Morrow. Company of Angels is the oldest repertory theater in Los Angeles. The Company spent its early years producing the classics of American theatre as well as presenting new work and received almost every Los Angeles theatrical award, including the LA Drama Critics’ Circle Award, the Drama-Logue Award, the LA Weekly Award, and the Ovation Award. In 2005 the company began to plan for its 50th Anniversary by re-assessing its history and planning for its future. This process resulted in a new mission statement that committed the Company to reflecting the City of its birth through the art of theater. Since that time the Company has produced eight seasons of original theater by under-represented artists who reflect the communities that make up the City of Los Angeles. In addition, the Company engages non-theater artists from low-income communities including Boyle Heights, Skid Row and the Cancer community to develop original theater pieces for performances on our main stage. featuring Trieu Tran, Iris Liu, Russell Edge, and Jorge-Luis Pallo

Don’t miss Henry Ong’s final play! Ascent is based on the true story of Qian Xuesen, a promising young engineer from China who travels to America in 1935 on a Boxer Indemnity Scholarship. Advancing quickly through the ranks at MIT and Caltech, he becomes a pioneer of the American space age, co-founding JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) and helping the United States of America win World War II. Then, as extreme nationalism swells at the beginning of the Cold War, Xuesen finds himself accused of being a Communist, and what happens next shapes the future of both his new and native homelands.
