Two years ago, I started strength training with Jacob because I wanted to build upper body strength in order to stay strong and active for the rest of my life. Somewhere along the way, reaching 100 pushups became the goal.
Earlier this year I was consistently doing 75 pushups (3 sets of 25). One day Jacob suggested adding just one more rep for a total of 76. That one small suggestion shifted my mindset. The next week I decided to add one rep to each set instead, bringing the total to 78. From there, I added three more reps every week until yesterday, when I achieved 100!
The best part? Watching Jacob celebrate like he'd just won the lottery while I was standing there trying to remember how to breathe.
That's Jacob in a nutshell. He celebrates every milestone right alongside me, makes me laugh through the tough workouts, and challenges me to become stronger every week while somehow making lifting heavy weights fun! I'm incredibly grateful for his encouragement and his belief in me.
Although my goal was to reach 100 pushups, my lifelong goal is to be 70, 80, or even 100 years old and still be able to do those 100 pushups, along with all the other activities I love. Yesterday was just one milestone along that journey.
Now, onto the next goal -- pull ups!
