Randy Mantooth’s memorial Open house
SEPTEMBER 19 — WHAT TO EXPECT
We have received a lot of questions from people planning to visit the Los Angeles County Fire Museum on Saturday, September 19, to remember Randy Mantooth on what would have been his 81st birthday.
The goal is to bring Randy’s fans together to remember him, share stories about how he impacted their lives, and hear memories from others who shared their love and admiration for him.
Here are some details to help you plan your visit.
Hours: 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
Admission: Free
-Tickets/RSVPs: None offered
-Reserved seating: None
-Dress: Casual. We encourage you to wear your favorite fire department or Emergency! T-shirt.
-We will have a place for you to donate your favorite challenge coin or station patch to the museum in Randy’s honor.
This will be an open-house memorial, not a scheduled program or formal Celebration of Life.
There will not be a set time you need to arrive.
Visitors can come anytime between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
Squad 51 will be the centerpiece of the memorial. Crown Engine 51, the Ward LaFrance Engine 51 and the Emergency! ambulance will also be on display.
We are preparing a special Randy Mantooth memorial display featuring photographs, memorabilia, flowers, video slideshow and museum memories, including photographs that many fans may have never seen before.
A memory book will be available for visitors to sign and share their memories and thoughts about Randy.
Museum docents and volunteers will be available throughout the day, and visitors will be able to see the museum’s Emergency! collection and other historic Fire Department apparatus.
Please understand that we do not know how many people will attend.
We are preparing for a large turnout, and there may be lines or periods when we need to control the number of visitors inside the museum.
We appreciate everyone’s patience.
We are doing everything in our power to livestream the event.
Please consider supporting Bellflower local restaurants. Many are within walking distance of the museum.
There are numerous hotels near the Long Beach airport and the Cerritos Sheraton is about 4 miles away. There’s not a block of rooms reserved for this event.
