Salt & Sun: A Portuguese Wine Journey 🍷
Sandra Gomes Rocha brought Portugal to the heart of LA, sharing delicious wine, food and stories that make their culture so special. In Portugal, you never need an excuse to share a bottle of wine with friends and family—it should always be on the table.

Thank you to Diniz Cellars for the wonderful wine and food, and to member Lauren for hosting us in her beautiful home!

Please welcome Emily Little to the LA Chapter Board as Director of Marketing & Communications! Emily’s passion for wine led her through several levels of WSET, and her love of the vibrant, welcoming wine community led her to W4WS. She brings 15 years of marketing and advertising experience to the role (her day job helps fund her wine habit), and she hopes to use her expertise to help grow the W4WS community.

On June 17, Sandra Gomes Rocha will lead us on an immersive exploration of Portuguese wine, food and culture. You may know her as a former President of W4WS LA, but she is also a Portuguese entrepreneur whose deep roots in Portugal’s agricultural and
wine traditions inspire everything she does.

She is the co-founder and CEO of Diniz Cellars, Los Angeles’ premier Portuguese wine importer and distributor. As CEO, she leads all aspects of the business—from curating a portfolio of exceptional wines to driving sales strategy and brand development.

A respected voice in the industry, Sandra is also one of the leading authorities on Portuguese wine education in Southern California. In 2024, she launched Portuguese Wine Week—an annual celebration that showcases the diversity, quality, and cultural richness of Portuguese wines to both the trade and the public.

The Women for WineSense Grand Event ended on the perfect note—with an unforgettable wine dinner at Willow’s Lodge.

Woodinville, WA was the perfect setting for this event. Between the meaningful connections, inspiring education, and incredible Washington wines, it’s a trip I won’t forget. Truly honored to represent the LA Chapter at such a special gathering. 🍷✨

Last week, with both members and friends, we raised a glass to Women’s History Month at San Antonio Winery, a true piece of LA wine history and the city’s oldest-producing winery.

From a guided tour of the winery, which dates back to 1917, to a curated tasting across multiple labels under the Riboli Family Wines brand, this experience was all about discovery, connection, and celebrating women in wine.

A highlight was hearing from Associate Winemaker (and W4WS member) Kelsey Hunter, who shared her journey to becoming a winemaker and her perspective on carving out space for women in the industry.

We are also grateful to Breanne Patterson (also a W4WS member) for leading us through a tour of the winery (including areas not open to the public!) and to everyone who joined us to sip, learn, and connect.

More moments like this are coming soon from Women for Wine Sense Los Angeles.🍷
