A new Sun Devil tradition starts now. 🔱

This fall, ASU Alumni is launching Fly the Flag—a new way to show your Sun Devil pride while making a difference for the next generation.

When you donate through the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter, your gift supports scholarships benefiting Los Angeles-area ASU students. And with a donation of $100 or more, you’ll receive an exclusive Sun Devil flag inspired by the legendary 1987 Rose Bowl champions.

Then comes the fun part: fly it on Game Day. 🏈

Each July, the ASU Alumni Association distributes Sun Devil Teacher Packs to support alumni working in K-12 education while fostering lifelong learning and helping students envision their future at Arizona State University.

Designed for educators at all levels, each pack includes Sun Devil spirit items for teachers, ASU-themed classroom decor, rewards for elementary students, admissions information for high school students and a brochure highlighting additional ASU programs and resources.

For $35, your ticket includes admission for one person and one dog on the grass berm, where our ASU group will gather for the match.

Don’t have a dog? You’re still welcome! Purchase a ticket and join the Sun Devil community on the berm for a fun evening of soccer and alumni connections.

🐾 A few things to know before you go:
• Bring a towel or blanket to sit on the grass berm.
• Parking typically ranges from $20–$45, depending on where you park.
• Upon arrival, text Corey (phone number in registration) to find the ASU group on the berm.
• Review the LA Galaxy event information for arrival/check-in details, the required signed waiver, stadium rules, fireworks information and more.

⚠️ Important: Registering with ASU LA Alumni does not include your game ticket. Registration lets us know how many Sun Devils (and dogs!) to expect. Your LA Galaxy Pups at the Pitch ticket + dog pass must be purchased separately through the LA Galaxy.

AI is changing visual journalism faster than the industry can write the rules. 🔱

Arizona State University’s Narrative and Emerging Media program and Hacks/Hackers are bringing the AI × Visual Journalism Forum to Downtown Los Angeles on August 25–26, 2026.

The forum brings together visual journalists, photo and graphics editors, documentary and narrative filmmakers, data visualization specialists, and the technologists building the AI tools transforming their work.

Attendees will explore emerging AI tools and questions surrounding visual journalism through hands-on workshops, conversations and demonstrations — from rebuilding a street scene in 3D from ordinary photographs to content authenticity, AI retouching and the evolving standards surrounding AI-generated and AI-edited media.

​Hacks/Hackers and Arizona State University's Narrative and Emerging Media program are convening visual journalists, photo and graphics editors, documentary makers, narrative filmmakers, data visualization specialists and the technologists building these tools. CatchLight is also a presenting partner.

AI tools that generate, edit and synthesize images, video and data visualization are moving faster than visual journalism can track them. There are no industry standards and very few documented cases. Instead of waiting for policy to catch up, we are spending a day testing the tools and writing the frameworks.

​You'll learn how to rebuild a street scene in 3D from ordinary photos, then walk through it. Install an app that cryptographically signs your photos the moment you shoot. Work out with other photographers, editors and filmmakers where AI retouching stops being retouching.

Every summer since 1885 (or thereabouts!) we host Sun Devil Send Offs to welcome the newest Sun Devils and their families from the LA Area to the ASU Family.

Hosted this year in downtown LA, Manhattan Beach and Woodland Hills, we're excited for the newest LA Devils and wish them the best of luck in their lifelong Sun Devil journey.

Big thank you to the alumni volunteers, several current students and parents who attended each Send Off, the Alumni Association, ASU Admissions and ASU Family for their support to make these happen.
