The Stolen Lives Induction Ceremony is a solemn, yet empowering occasion at which recent and past victims of police killings are formally inducted into the roster of the Stolen Lives Project. The Stolen Lives Induction Ceremony is both an affirmation of life and a call to action. It allows the Stolen Life, demonized by the powers-that-be, to be remembered the way they should be remembered: by those who love them – and for that truth to be shared with all those in attendance.

At these ceremonies, families speak of their loved ones and their struggles for justice, their voices joined by community organizers and others in the fight against police violence, as well as artists who contribute their art and performance for healing, for strength, for empowerment.

This Friday October 22nd at 4pm, the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition and in coalition with our partners at BLM-LA and other organizations will be hosting an action to honor the National Anti-Police Brutality Day (historically called O22) in front of the LAPD headquarters. Please join us in a show of power and solidarity against the local police forces that perpetuate a tradition of brutality in this city. We’ll have live music from LACAN’s freedom singers and other local performers, along with testimonials from local organizers who have experienced the state’s violent efforts to squash dissent in this city.

We look forward to seeing you there, in community, in resistance.

///: Jesse should be turning 20 years old this August, but his life was stolen on August 9th 2016 by LAPD officer Eden Medina, who shot Jesse while he was running away and had his hands up. Stand in solidarity this August 21st with the family and demand justice for Jesse who should be alive today, preparing to celebrate his birthday with his loved ones.

Jesse cumpliría 20 años de edad este mes de Agosto, pero su vida fue robada por Eden Medina, un oficial del LAPD, quien le disparó a Jesse mientras corría y tenía sus manos en el aire.
