Downtown Women's Center

Downtown Women's Center We envision a Los Angeles with every woman housed and on a path to personal stability.
(239)

Our mission is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, and advocacy.

Life without stable housing can take a profound toll on both physical and mental well-being. Healing begins with safety, stability, and a place to call home.

Because of supporters like you, the Downtown Women’s Center provides a community of care for nearly 5,000 women and survivors of violence across Los Angeles each year.

Every person who walks through our doors is met with dignity, support, and the opportunity to begin rebuilding their future.

Progress toward ending homelessness is made possible when communities, organizations, and public partners come together to invest in solutions that create lasting impact.

Last week, the Downtown Women’s Center celebrated our partnership with the City of Los Angeles through the L.A. Repair program. We are deeply grateful to everyone who voted for DWC in this community-driven funding opportunity.

Because of you, DWC received $500,000 to expand access to nutritious meals, strengthen community connection, provide culturally responsive healthcare, and support safe, dignified housing in Skid Row.

Moments like this remind us what is possible when community voices are centered and investments are made in proven housing solutions. Thank you to our partners, supporters, and community members who continue to move this work forward.

1 in 4 women experiencing homelessness cites domestic violence as a direct cause. That’s why the Domestic Violence & Homeless Services Coalition (DVHSC) exists: because no one should have to choose between stable housing and a life free from violence.

Last night, DVHSC Senior Manager Cristina Cortes joined CBS LA’s Gio Insignares and Survivor Justice Center Executive Director Carmen McDonald to remind us that it takes all of us to create a community where survivors feel safe asking for help.
