These names and flavors are used to secretly market to kids and make something harmful look harmless. At EmpowHer Institute, this day feels especially meaningful as we prepare for our Black Women Nonprofit Leaders Forum. August is Black Philanthropy Month! This movement celebrates how Black communities build impact through giving, innovation, and bold ideas. Our EmpowHer Young Philanthropists Initiative was designed to uplift youth leadership while also developing the next generation of philanthropists. The initiative is carried out by our Youth Advisory Board--13 girls and youth who lead the grantmaking process and provide five youth-serving organizations with $5,000 mini‑grants annually. This month we salute our YAB members and all of the Black Philanthropists helping to make the world a better place.
