This Juneteenth, we’re celebrating the Black birthworkers, families, advocates, and community leaders advancing birth justice and perinatal mental health across LA County.

Swipe through for a few highlights from our Black Birthworkers Community 👉

🌱 We completed our Rooted in Care listening session series, lifting up the voices and lived experience of Black birthworkers and confirming what we already knew: workforce sustainability, economic stability, rest, and emotional well-being are deeply connected to better perinatal mental health outcomes.

🤝 Our Black Birthworkers Community network is now 400+ strong, and growing.

💛 We’ve supported 30+ B*W Enrichment Fund recipients and 40+ Generational Wealth Series participants because investing in birthworkers means investing in the families they serve.

🔜 Stay tuned for our Rooted in Care findings, new community-led research opportunities, and upcoming gatherings and advocacy actions.

What if the most important thing a patient never says out loud… is something you’re trained to notice? 👀

Perinatal depression and anxiety often hide behind “I’m just tired” or a forced smile. As a provider, you’re often the first person to see the signs — but only if you know what to look for, and where to send someone next.

That’s exactly what we’re here for.

🎓 Free, CE-accredited trainings (live & self-paced)
📋 Screening tools & ready-to-use practice materials
🗺️ A growing LA County resource directory for warm referrals

In LA County, 1 in 4 birthing people report a depressed mood during pregnancy or postpartum — and 72% never get treatment. You could be the difference.

Q***r and trans birthing people face unique mental health challenges and too often, the systems meant to support them fall short. As a provider, birthworker, or caregiver, you have the power to change that experience.

Our Q***r & Trans Perinatal Mental Health Toolkit is a free digital resource designed to help you show up more fully for your q***r and trans patients and families. Inside you’ll find educational resources, practical guidance, and connections to additional trainings and support services so you can move beyond awareness and into action.

Whether you’re building foundational knowledge or looking for tools you can apply in your work right away, this toolkit meets you where you are.

Your patients deserve care that truly sees them. This is a great place to start. 💛

Do you know what Strength in Tiny Steps is? 👇🏾

If you’re a Black mother who has or has had a baby in the NICU, keep reading. Because this might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.

The NICU is a world most people don’t understand unless they’ve lived it. The beeping machines. The tiny hands. The rollercoaster of hope and fear. The exhaustion that lives in your bones. And through all of it, you’re expected to stay strong often without a space that truly sees you.

That’s where Strength in Tiny Steps: Black NICU Family Circle comes in.

This is a free, peer-run support group created specifically for Black mothers navigating the NICU journey whether your baby is there right now, or within the last three years.

It’s facilitated by Dominique DjeDje and Summer McBride: two Black mothers who have sat in those same hospital chairs, loved those same tiny babies, and come out the other side.

They built this space because they wished it had existed for them.

Here, you’ll find:

💛 A community that gets it without explanation

🏆 Celebration of every milestone, no matter how small

📚 Resources tailored to Black NICU families

💬 A safe, affirming space to feel whatever you feel

Because you deserve more than survival. You deserve a village.

📅 Every Tuesday
🕛 12:00 – 1:15 PM
💻 Virtual via Zoom
💰 Completely free to attend

To join, register at the link in bio and schedule your brief introductory call. A facilitator will reach out personally to welcome you. 🤍
