When people ask me why I came back to Boys & Girls Club after graduation, I tell them about the student who reminded me of myself.

She came from Afghanistan and, like me, couldn’t speak English and didn’t know what path to take. I translated for her and helped her make sense of a system that felt impossible to navigate.

She told me the Club was her home. She didn’t miss a day, showing up ready to talk about college applications, scholarships, and her future. By graduation, she had won multiple scholarships and was headed to college.

That’s what Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley makes possible, and your gift today helps the next student who walks through our doors find a mentor ready to show them what’s truly possible.

🌱💙 Celebrating Bonnie & Jeff! 💙🌱

Last Friday, we celebrated the end of another wonderful year of gardening at the Clubhouse — and, more importantly, celebrated two incredible volunteers who have given so much of their time, energy, and heart to our youth: Bonnie and Jeff Abel.

Throughout the year, Bonnie and Jeff shared their love of gardening with our Club members, creating opportunities for kids to learn, get their hands dirty, try something new, and grow together. 🌻🥕🍓

To celebrate the end of the program, they hosted a special party filled with balloons, delicious fruits and vegetables, cup-stacking games, and lots of smiles! Our kids also made sure Bonnie and Jeff knew just how much they mean to them, presenting them with a special banner, heartfelt cards, and beautiful handmade flower crafts. 💐💌

As Bonnie and Jeff prepare to relocate, we want to say a very heartfelt THANK YOU for the time, kindness, and care you have shared with our Club community over the years. Your impact reaches far beyond the garden — you have helped create memories, build connections, and inspire our kids to learn and grow.

When my mom and I came to the United States, I didn't know English, and I was unsure of almost everything.

Then I walked through the doors of Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley. Thanks to staff and volunteers like Miss Adrienne Kentor, I felt safe, seen, and welcomed like family, all the way through graduation and college applications.

I now proudly serve as a Future Ready Specialist at the Club. It was my past. It's now my present. Because of donors like you, it will be someone else's future.

A gift today helps the next Pari find their own Miss Adrienne.

📚 Give. Inspire. Challenge. Join the 9-2-5 Kick-Off! 💙

Every child deserves the chance to grow up surrounded by books. The first five years of life are a critical time for brain development, language, and social-emotional growth—and early access to books can help build a lifelong love of learning.

That’s why Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley, in partnership with the Child Development Institute, is bringing Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to children across the San Fernando Valley.

Through the program, enrolled children ages 0–5 receive one carefully selected, age-appropriate book every month—delivered directly to their homes at no cost to their families. 📖✨

Our goal is ambitious: to help place hundreds of thousands of books into the hands and homes of children throughout our region each year.

Now, we’re inviting YOU to be part of making it happen.

This is what it looks like to .

Right here in the Greater San Fernando Valley, you're invited to join the launch crew. Your gift can bring the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to our children who could receive a free book every month.

Behind every book is a community of people who believe in the power of giving—our donors, volunteers, local partners, and supporters who help make this program possible.

Today, September 25th, on Give Like Dolly Day, you can help us reach even more children and families across the Greater San Fernando Valley, which includes Glendale, Burbank, and North Hollywood. Every gift helps us continue building a community where children can grow up surrounded by the joy of books and reading.

Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley, in partnership with the Child Development Institute, is committed to bringing Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to children across the San Fernando Valley.

This is an ambitious undertaking with the potential to place hundreds of thousands of books into the hands and homes of children throughout our region each year.

Through our Cooper Literacy Program, BGCWV is committed to building a foundation for lifelong learning. That’s why our Board has committed to supporting children during the critical earliest years of life — ages under 5.

These years are a crucial time for brain development, language acquisition, and social-emotional growth. Yet, many children enter kindergarten without consistent access to books or the early literacy opportunities they need to thrive.

📖 Together, we can change that — right here at home.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, enrolled children will receive one carefully selected, age-appropriate book every month, mailed directly to them. Each book helps build a home library while creating excitement around reading and encouraging families to read together.

💙 JOIN THE 9-2-5 CHALLENGE

As we celebrate the incredible life Dolly Parton led and the inspiration she continues to provide, we invite you to give. Inspire. Challenge.

Let’s put more books into more homes — and help build a foundation for lifelong learning. 📚💙
