Next week is Running Down the Walls!!
We're celebrating the TWENTY-FIFTH anniversary of Running Down the Walls this year and we need everyone to help make it a success. Sending monthly stipends to political prisoners and prisoners of war is a huge part of the work the Anarchist Black Cross Federation does, and it is largely funded by the runs that happen across the country and around the world.

Every year, prisoners and supporters of political prisoners organize solidarity events with Running Down the Walls. In previous years, we’ve had runs in Albuquerque (NM), Arcata (CA), Ashland (OR), Bellefonte (PA), Boston (MA), Buffalo (NY), Chico (CA), Denver (CO), Elmore (AL), Inez (KY), Los Angeles (CA), Marion (IL), Mexico City (MX), Minneapolis (MN), New York (NY), USP Navosta (TX), Pelican Bay (CA), Phoenix (AZ), Tucson (AZ), Seattle (WA), and Toronto, Ontario. This year we hope to expand the amount of runs in prisons and other cities, as well as increase the amount of funds raised for community projects.LA-ABC’s goal with this year’s run is $5,000. The ABCF Warchest Program:
The Anarchist Black Cross Federation (ABCF) has initiated a program designed to send monthly checks to those Political Prisoners and Prisoners of War who have been receiving insufficient, little, or no financial support during their imprisonment. The Warchest program was initiated in November 1994. Its purpose is to collect monthly funds from groups and individual supporters, and send that money to Political Prisoners and Prisoners of War (PP/POW) via monthly checks. From its inception, the ABCF warchest has dispensed over $235,000 to political prisoners. Currently, there are 13 imprisoned comrades who receive a monthly stipend as part of the program; they are Abdul Azeez, Alex Stokes, Hanif Bey, Jamil Al-Amin, Jessica Reznicek, Joe-Joe Bowen, Kamau Sadiki, Leonard Peltier, Malik Smith, Marius Mason, Oso Blanco, Ronald Reed, and Xinachtli (FKA Alvaro Luna Hernandez).

LA-ABCF is Running Down the Walls again! This September 15th, the Political Prisoner support community will come together to Run Down The Walls! The Los Angeles Anarchist Black Cross will host a 5K Run/Walk/Jog around the lagoon of Echo Park. This Run is designed to raise much-needed funds for the Anarchist Black Cross Federation's Warchest program; we are attempting to reach the goal of $5,000.

You are, invited to come out and show your support for our political prisoner comrades. Come to hang out or get some exercise, either way your presence is welcomed. The contributions to the struggle given by PP/POWs imprisoned for their pursuit of liberation is an important reminder to the next generation of freedom fighters who will be pounding the pavement in solidarity with us all.

ABCF Warchest:
The ABCF Warchest program was created in November of 1994. Its purpose is to send monthly financial support to Political Prisoners and Prisoners of War (PP/POWs). The Warchest funds are divided and distributed through monthly stipends to political prisoners who receive little or no financial aid. Prisoners use this money to cover the basic necessities of everyday living. These funds have been used by prisoners to pay for stamps, shoes, clothes, as well as assisting their families with what little they can.

Every year we get runners who are unfamiliar with Political Prisoners, Prisoners of War, and the movements they came from. We read statements of solidarity from PP/POWs before each run begins because we want people to run with PP/POW’s issues on their minds.

Solidarity Runs will take place in New York NY, Lowel MA, Chicago IL, Philadelphia PA, and by the time you read this we will hopefully have added a few more. The solidarity runs will hit the pavement, dirt roads, grassy paths, or whatever trails will lead us to the 5K marker with a unified goal of supporting our comrades behind enemy lines. The money raised will go to the ABCF Warchest program.
