🀄️ Mahjong for a BIG cause! 👠

On Saturday, our Assistance League of LA hosted their 3rd Annual Mahjong Party in support of The Really Big Shoe — and what a fun afternoon it was!

We welcomed 16 fabulous guests, including members of Hillary Kanigher (and their moms!), CAA, Mannequins LA, Assistance League of LA and some wonderful potential new members. Guests battled it out over special hands, Mahjong Bingo, and plenty of friendly competition — all while supporting a BIG cause. ❤️

Congratulations to Candy Susnow, our Grand Winner, who took home the most necklaces! 🏆📿

Thank you to everyone who joined us, played, laughed and helped make TRBS 2026 another memorable one. Together, we’re putting shoes on the feet of children in need — one mahjong hand at a time! 👟❤️

On September 28, Assistance League of Los Angeles welcomed Auxiliary Leaders from across the League to our second annual Spirit of the League Summit at our Chapter House! 💙

More than a day of learning, this full-day retreat was an opportunity to come together as one League, celebrate the incredible people who make our work possible, and envision what we can accomplish together.

The day began with a State of the League presentation, highlighting the past year's accomplishments and kicking off our League-wide strategic planning journey. Leaders also participated in two interactive sessions designed to strengthen our collective impact:

✨ Crafting an Effective Elevator Pitch led by our Development Director, AndyMike Emata
✨ Membership Recruitment & Retention led by Dana Bean, founder of Amplify for Good Consulting

Most importantly, leaders left with fresh ideas, stronger connections, and a shared understanding of how every Auxiliary contributes to advancing our mission and expanding our impact in the community.

Thank you to our Auxiliary Leaders for your time, leadership, and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of children in need. Together, we are building a stronger League and a brighter future for the children and families we serve.

What a wonderful morning of pickleball, friendship, and community in support of The Really Big Shoe! 🎾✨

Huge thank you to hosts Tracy Levine, Hillary Kanigher & Amelia Chick, and to Mountaingate Country Club for generously donating the courts and creating such a beautiful setting for lunch overlooking the golf course.

🚌✨ Yesterday, Wheels rolled into Grant Street Elementary School, bringing a day of excitement, support, and smiles to hundreds of students in need!

Students received new backpacks, clothing, shoes, socks and underwear, personal care items, a book, a toy, and more — giving each child essential resources to help them feel confident, cared for, and ready to learn. 🎒👟📚❤️

It was a wonderful day made possible by our community of care. A special thank you to the LAUSD Homeless Education Program for their partnership and support, and to the LAPD Reserves and our local Hollywood police officers for helping make the day a success.

We were also so grateful to have Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez join us and put in some serious work at our book table, helping students find books to take home! 📚❤️ And, of course, thank you to our dedicated Assistance League of Los Angeles members and who continue to give their time, energy, and hearts to making Operation School Bell possible.

Together, we’re helping provide children with more than school essentials — we’re helping students feel seen, supported, and ready to succeed. ❤️

Friday marked the first Wheels service of the school year! 🛞✨

What a day at Barton Hill Elementary School in San Pedro! We kicked off the school year by serving 312 students in person, with 15 additional virtual backpacks — making for a very busy and incredibly rewarding morning.

Every student received a brand-new backpack stuffed to the brim with essentials, including shoes, clothing, underwear, socks, books and more. 📚👟🧦

Each backpack also included a special Self-Care Kit, lovingly assembled at our recent Family Day of Service, plus an adorable backpack friend keychain! 💛 And they were a BIG hit — especially the ChapStick, with students excited to choose their favorite pattern! 👏

Thank you to everyone who helped us get our first Wheels of the school year rolling! 🛞💙

Today, our trailer rolled into Barton Elementary for an incredible Wheels Service Day! 🚌🎒❤️

Through our Operation School Bell program, students receive new clothing and essential school supplies to help them feel confident, comfortable, and ready to learn.

Providing these everyday essentials does more than meet a basic need — it helps remove barriers that can distract from learning and gives children the opportunity to walk into the classroom feeling prepared and proud. When kids have what they need to succeed, they can focus on what matters most: learning, growing, and reaching their potential. ✏️📚✨

We’re so proud to bring this program directly to students and grateful to everyone who makes Operation School Bell possible.

Because every child deserves to start the school day feeling ready to succeed. ❤️
