Red Earth Defense

Red Earth Defense We serve as an active, Indigenous-led, inclusive group in the greater LA area. We have reached over thousands of people- these issues impact us all!

The members of this group consist of Indigenous leaders who have worked in the community for many years and who have been leading and organizing marches/rallies on occupied Tongva land. Through this, they helped raise awareness for many sacred fights such as (Standing Rock Sioux), Oak Flat (Apache lands), South Mountain (AZ, O'odam sacred lands), Mauna Kea (Hawaiian sacred volcano/mountain

), Flint Michigan (Water crisis), March and many more- with the help of other Indigenous and non-Indigenous leaders. We saw a need to help to organize for these sacred fights here on mother earth, and came together to take action. Please join us, and help grow this powerful movement!

Paiute and Shoshone Elders and Relatives at Peehee Muhuh/Thacker Pass in Northern NV - The Elders have made the call - more supporters are needed to support their spiritual movement to protect Peehee Muhuh, the land and the water. Relatives there ask that supporters come self sufficient and ready to camp. Sentinel Rock is a safe camping location on the east side of the pass. This is peaceful and prayerful - no drugs, alcohol, or weapons. Come ready to take direction from Elders in a humble, good way.

"Even though lawmakers in 2021 unanimously passed AB88, a bill sponsored by Assemblyman Howard Watts (D-Las Vegas) that prohibited “sundown sirens,” or sounds citywide to alert people of color to leave town by a certain time, the town of Minden still sounds a siren at 5 p.m.

The city says the sound honors first responders despite concerns about the racist connotations brought up by Washoe tribal members during the hearing Wednesday for SB391, which seeks to close a loophole in the previous bill that allowed the practice to continue.

Testimonies of support for SB391 — a bill prohibiting any use of sundown sirens statewide — from Washoe and Shoshone tribal members and elders exceeded the 30-minute limit and spilled into the time for neutral testimony during Wednesday’s hearing."
