Zane has a master's degree. His parents are both doctors. And a few years ago, he was living on the streets.

"It's a really alienating experience to be a homeless person. You're only ever greeted with fear, disgust, or neglect."

Addiction took everything: his job, his health, his home. After treatment, Zane found Food on Foot. And he decided to trust that asking for help was okay.

That decision changed his life.

Today, Zane is housed. He works at a detox center in Woodland Hills helping others walk the same road he did. He just secured a loan to go back to school and become a drug and alcohol counselor. And for the first time in his life, he cares about his credit score.

"A couple years ago, if anything was in my bank account, it was being spent on drugs immediately, because I didn't care about tomorrow, let alone today."

Now he does.

That shift - from survival to stability, from the street to a future, is exactly what Food on Foot exists to make possible. Through our Jobs and Housing program, participants build the skills, savings, and support network to move toward real independence.

Zane's story isn't an exception. It's what happens when someone is met with dignity instead of judgment.

Harley was working two jobs, seven days a week.

And still losing everything.

When she moved to Los Angeles, life was stable. A job. A car. Independence.

Then everything shifted.

Unsafe housing. Supporting her family. Endless work just to keep things afloat.

10 PM to 6 AM.
Then 10 AM to 6 PM.
Repeat.

Even that wasn’t enough.

Harley fell behind on rent, lost stability, and found herself stretched thin trying to care for everyone else while losing sight of herself.

Then she found Food on Foot.

Through our Jobs & Housing Program, Harley began showing up every Sunday.

Workshops gave her something she hadn’t had in a long time.

Clarity.
Space.
A chance to focus on her own future.

Week by week, she rebuilt.

Not just stability, but belief in herself.

Today, Harley is housed, completing her nursing prerequisites at a Los Angeles college, and is pursuing her passions in music.

A future that once felt out of reach is now taking shape.

Stories like Harley’s happen because people choose to give every month.

💙 Join the $98 Club and help fuel our Jobs & Housing Program so more people like Harley can leave homelessness behind for good.

After 10 years in prison, Money was released into Los Angeles with nothing.

No job.
No housing.
No support system.

Paroled into a city where she knew no one, Money tried for years to rebuild her life. She moved through parole housing, battled addiction, and worked through treatment programs.

But the barriers were relentless.

Poor credit.
Little guidance.
No clear path forward.

Then she heard about Food on Foot.

At first, she was skeptical.

But week after week, showing up on Sundays as a Go Team member began to change everything.

Through the program, Money gained structure, financial literacy, and accountability.

Just as important, she found a community that believed in her and encouraged her to keep going.

Slowly, things began to shift.

Today, Money has something she once thought might never be possible.

Her own apartment.

“I still don’t believe I have the keys to my own place. It feels like a dream.”

She now works with autistic children and is continuing her education to become a peer support specialist.

Sometimes the turning point in someone’s life begins with one person choosing to walk beside them.

Behind every meal handed out on a Sunday is a volunteer who chose to show up.

And behind every volunteer is a neighbor who feels seen.

That exchange -- that moment of genuine human connection -- is what Food on Foot is built on.

A fresh start can begin with something as simple as a new pair of clothes.

Clean, comfortable clothing can help boost confidence.

Because of the generosity of True Classic, thousands of our neighbors receive quality t shirts, jeans, and apparel each year through our Sunday Serving and programs.

This kind of support goes far beyond clothing. It’s about empowerment, confidence, and reminding people of their value.

Huge thank you to True Classic for being such an impactful partner in our community.

There’s something deeply powerful about a warm meal made from scratch.

Every Sunday, Our Big Kitchen prepares fresh pasta, meatballs, and vegetables that become the centerpiece of our Sunday Serving. For many, it’s the main meal of the day. Warm, filling, and rich in protein and nutrients.

But beyond the nutrition, it sends a message. You are cared for. You are valued.

We’re so thankful to Our Big Kitchen and their dedicated volunteers for bringing that message to life every single week.

Along with a hot meal, snacks, and beverages, our neighbors also receive canned goods and shelf-stable items they can take with them, helping provide food security throughout the week.

It’s not just about one day of support. It’s about helping people get through the days ahead.

Be part of making that possible.

Mars was born and raised in LA. She was an entrepreneur who did hair, cooked food, and built things with her own hands.

Then life got expensive -- the way it does in California. She lost her footing. She ended up in a shelter.

Her case manager saw a story about Food on Foot on the Kelly Clarkson Show. Out of everyone in that shelter, she looked at Mars and said: "You'll do it."

She was right.

Mars showed up. Every single Sunday. She worked the program, built her savings, and found her footing again. Today, she is a licensed truck driver behind the wheel of a 14-wheeler. And she has a house.

"I'm not homeless no more."

That is what transformation sounds like. Not a statistic. Not a headline. A woman, in her own words, telling you it worked.

The $98 Club -- a community of monthly donors who each contribute $98 to help fund rent, groceries, transportation, and life skills while people like Mars are in the Jobs & Housing program -- is part of why Mars is where she is today. She said it herself: "Y'all did y'all big ones."
And she's already looking forward. When she completes the program, she plans to come back and stand on the other side -- giving back the same way others gave to her.

This is what Food on Foot is built for. Not temporary relief. A full pathway: meal, job, housing, independence.

If Mars's story moves you, visit foodonfoot.org to learn how you can help someone just like her.
