On November 9, 2013 the people of the neighborhood at 98th and Wall st in South L.A., came together to reclaim a dirt alley that had been buried under up to 4 feet of trash due to neglect by absentee landlords and city officials. Over the next year they came together nearly every Saturday, and, together, not only cleared out the trash and debris, but reclaimed the soil, and created a community garden, and meeting space. On Saturday November 15, 2014 they came together to celebrate their achievements so far, and to kick off the third phase of their project to build a stronger community by reclaiming their public space. Calling all artists in the Watts/ South L.A. area, and al who are down to assist this community to enforce their right to cultural adequacy, the project resumes Saturday November 22, in the alley at 9815 s. Wall st. at 2pm, see you there!!

If you think the people can't fight back and win, we have two victories to report. Just outside of Long Beach, sister CC has been facing intimidation from the manager of her mobile home park. Yesterday she received some great news.

THANK YOU Maegan Donovan Nikolic for connecting me with the Los Angeles Anti-Eviction Campaign when our landlord was hassling us and threatening to evict us. The FREE lawyer provided by their legal clinic helped us write a letter to the property manager that has totally turned things around. After documenting the hazardous conditions of our home-site when we moved in, and the lengths we had to go to in order to clean it up and make it safe to be outside, they responded that they "apologize for the inconvenience you may have experienced when you moved in", and said they appreciate our residency. This is a HUGE weight off our shoulders, thank you SO much to both of you, and thank you to everyone at the LA CAN legal clinic!

And out of Chicago, more good news for the people,

V is for Victory! - CAEC member Beatrice Hardy after more than 2,500 petition signatures and dozens of phone calls successfully pressure Midfirst Bank to withdraw its eviction order!!

A big thank you to both of these sisters for being brave enough to stand against the forces allied against them. Only together can we win. ALL POWER TO ALL PEOPLE!!!

ATTENTION!! HAS PETER BAER STOLE YOUR HOME? OR VIOLATED YOUR RIGHTS TO DUE PROCESS? CONTACT US, ONLY TOGETHER CAN WE WIN!
Below is sister Maegan's story, hers is but one of the thousands of lives Baer has ruined with his greed.

April 27th 2011 My home of 17 years sold at auction, starting bid $80,000 winning bid $181,000 Lowest Market Price $380,000 Amount owed to Lender $26,872. (2 years left) Strategic Acquisitions Corp. Purchased at "Auction". I was at the auction I saw only 2 men "bidding" , on a home with that kinda equity I found that strange, but later found out they were "partners". Strategic Realty came to offer cash for keys, Joanne Kneale was the contact, $1500 I rejected their offer, and told her we were in litigation and why. I also told her we would buy it back or work some thing with them while we were in litigation, she was to talk to investors (Peter Baer and Ian Fleishman) a week later instead of responding they sold it to a foreign investment group before recording trustees deed. This foreign group was impossible to trace to serve for court.

Sept.27th, 2011, Our lock out date: My 2 children left to be with my family, My husband (Zowie) and me stayed in our empty house to stand our ground and be there for the sheriff's to lock doors. By October 3rd still they had not shown up and Zowie was crumbling, I had spoke with his friend to take him to the motorcycle race track to clear his mind and leave me alone there, i wanted to burn my house down with me in it (he didn't know that part)

On October 8th, I received a call that he was in a high speed motorcycle crash and was in the icu with a brain bleed injury. I knew the second I would leave that would be it...I waited 15 minutes and grabbed my keys and as I stepped off the curb 2 of Baer's agents ran up my drive way and illegally changed the locks.

I will never forget those 5 days and how this man made me feel.
Peter Baer, is a weasel, he had a choice to keep my family in our home and still get same amount the investors paid, but he rather wash his hands of it..

Maegan Donovan Nikolic.

ALERT!! CALL OUT TO ALL VICTIMS OF PETER BAER!!! It is time to stand up to this enemy of the people. If you have had an experience with Strategic Acquisitions, Longpoint, or any other of Peter Baer's companies, please contact us...

Peter Baer (pictured center below, flanked by his lawyer Rebecca Cohen, and one of his thugs) is a vulture capitalist who has been terrorizing the people for years. LAAEC first encountered Baer while his company Strategic Acquisitions while helping Ms. Cathleen Hughes defend her home against eviction. You may remember (if not, please scroll down the page) Baer's agents illegally locked Ms. Hughes out of her home in such a hurry that they locked her dog prince inside the house along with all of her possessions. Then installed three "housesitters" who not only smoked drugs in her house, but stole many of her belongings, including money, and even her undergarments. Ms. Hughes however, was only one of thousands of victims of Peter Baer in the L.A. area.

The photo below was taken at the small claims court action against him filed by sister Vicki Corona for the theft and destruction of ALL of her personal property, which took place in front of her while she plead with them to stop. The incident was captured on video, and has been presented in her case as evidence. She returns to court on 6/17/14 at 8:30am Dept P, in Van Nuys. She needs court support badly, Baher had 20 of his paid agent in court last time. So please save the date and be there.

All power to all people! Peace to you all, if you are willing to fight for it.

In November 2013, the residents of the block around 98th and Wall St. in South L.A. came together to change the face of their community for the better. Armed with hoes, rakes and trash bags, they began the arduous task of reclaiming the dirt alley behind their homes from years of neglect that had left trashed up to three feet high in some spots.

The garbage filled area served as yet another reminder of the absentee slumlords who now own most of the houses on the block and whose only investment in the neighborhood was in the rents they could suck out of the properties and not in the well being of the people who lived there. So, once again, it fell on the people to enforce their human right to habitable communities. And the people have met the challenge head on. Over the next nine Saturdays, they pulled eleven 40-foot dumpsters of trash out of the alley - transforming what had become a breeding ground for vermin and disease into a green, open space for the community.

At a recent weekend BBQ, residents decided to turn the space into a community garden and park in a neighborhood where the nearest public green space is twenty blocks away. In the coming weeks, residents will complete the project - with opening day scheduled for the second Saturday in June.

Ten residents, most of whom had lived next to each other for years without meeting, joined with other community members and allies to pull this project together. What can you and your neighbors do to improve and protect your block? Just think of the possibilities!

The mission of the Los Angeles Anti-Eviction Campaign (LAAEC) is to build a culture of self-defense against the exploitation and oppression of working poor communities. One way we do this is by creating a No Displacement Zone, which is made through community agreements designed to empower, improve, and protect a neighborhood or community. LAAEC weekly meetings are held every Saturday at 3pm at 98th and Wall St.. All residents in far South L.A. and Watts are welcome and encouraged to attend. For more information on building a no displacement zone in your community, contact us at [email protected] or looks us up on Facebook (Los Angeles Anti-Eviction Campaign). You can also call us at (773) 908-6283.

All power to all people! Peace to you all, if you are willing to fight for it!
