📚🚲 South Central Power Up is deploying 250 , available to rent for a month at a time at 7 different locations in the community, to help riders get around more easily, reliably and affordably. This program is a result of over a year of collaboration, outreach, and organizing from the community organizations that will serve as hubs to rent e-bikes and provide training to all participants, including People for Mobility Justice, Ridewitus la, Strategic Concepts in Organizing & Policy Education (SCOPE), TRUST South L.A., Esperanza Community Housing, Labor Community Strategy Center, Community Services Unlimited inc., & Ride On Bike Shop Co-Op. To build a green economy that is truly inclusive, we need to ensure that all communities in Greater Los Angeles have access to affordable, clean transportation. Ultimately, we are looking to surface and share learnings from this new, long-term e-bike pilot rental program that will help us scale similar programs and clean transportation solutions across the region. Everyone please like and share and join us tomorrow for a Twitter storm

📣Solidarity Alert!
Join the fight to support Labor Community Strategy Center + our LA allies to ensure lausd police is defunded + Black/Brown students are invested in!!

Context:
"At the end of June, and after years of organizing: Students Deserve, Black Lives Matter-LA, the Brothers, Sons, Selves Coalition and over 70 other allied organizations pushed LAUSD to divest $25 million dollars from the LA School Police Department and pledge to reinvest that money into support services for Black students.

In December, Sup’t Beutner brought forward a proposal on how to spend the $25 million that had been cut from School Police. Beutner’s proposal failed to address the needs of Black students, which is anti-Black and problematic. The proposal was put aside and any decisions were postponed. In February, Superintendent Beutner will once again put forward a proposal to reinvest the $25 million cut from LASPD that is anti-Black and does NOT prioritize Black students."

The Strategy Center is a multi-racial internationalist movement-building organization based on a Black/Latino alliance with the Nations and People of the Third World. While our work is national and international we begin with a focus on the Black and Latino communities in South Central Los Angeles and carrying out a Civil Rights/Climate Justice Strategy. This is a unique opportunity since LCSC fills most positions from our membership and we are excited to attract new people to help strengthen our team.

At the Strategy Center we try to keep politics at the forefront

We have a strategy represented by key formulations and counter-hegemonic demands. (Are these your politics?)

The Core political formulations

We Demand the Climate Justice State not the Warfare State

Stop U.S. Genocide Against the Black Nation
Building a social movement independent and to the left of the Democratic Party

Building a united front to protect Black rights, civil rights, democratic rights, and international human rights

Supporting the rights of Third World people whose right of self-determination is consistently violated by the United States

For a coherent integration of these ideas, we urge applicants to read Eric Mann’s just published article—“It’s Time for the Civil Rights Movement to Once Again Confront the Democrats and Lead the Struggle Against the White Fascists” in Counterpunch.org (https://bit.ly/3pTUa3E) and see if these are your politics
