I interviewed a remarkable man yesterday—someone I already admired even before our conversation.
But with every question he answered, I discovered more about who he truly is and the lives he has touched. Thousands of people have benefited from his work, yet behind those numbers is a story of real struggles, perseverance, and a genuine desire to give back.
His story is compelling, and I feel the weight of the responsibility that comes with telling it.
As I begin writing his cover story, I hope I can do more than share his achievements. I hope I can capture the heart behind them, the struggles that shaped him, and the purpose that continues to drive him.
Some stories deserve to be told with more than words. They deserve to be told with understanding.

The NDC team, led by Faith Bautista Tamashiro, along with Manuel Tello and Saifudheen, attended Southern Inland Community Schools for an introduction to community-based learning.

The discussion explored how school districts can support high-quality community-based learning and deepen their understanding through ecological community systems.

As NDC’s reach continues to grow across more schools and students, learning new ways to strengthen community-based education helps us continue expanding that impact.

When schools, families, organizations, and communities work together, better education happens.

At the PG&E 2026 Community Advocate Summit, NDC Founder and President Faith Bautista Tamashiro joined PG&E on the panel, “Trusted Voices, Real Impact: Community-Based Organizations Advancing Energy Equity and Customer Support.”

Faith shared NDC’s experience connecting communities with energy assistance programs and the importance of trusted community organizations in reaching customers who may be harder to reach.

A meaningful conversation on partnership, outreach, and making sure communities have access to the resources and support they need.

From Learning to Homeownership
For many families, buying a home can feel overwhelming. Through NDC’s homebuyer education and HUD-certified workshops, families gain the knowledge, guidance, and support they need to navigate the journey with confidence.
We’re proud to share this inspiring story from a family in Sanger who completed the program with Pastor Paul at Time of Destiny Church. From understanding the home-buying process to securing down payment assistance and finding a mortgage that fit their budget, the right guidance helped turn their goal of homeownership into reality.
Today, they’re not just dreaming about a home—they’re living in one.

Once a year, PG&E executives meet with NDC to share how they are serving low- and moderate-income (LMI) communities across California and to hear directly from community leaders about the needs and opportunities ahead.
NDC was honored to welcome PG&E CEO Sumeet Singh, P.E., along with Dionne Adams, Lydia Kretta, Jerilyn Gleaves, Jimi Harris, Monique, Helen, and Marlene. Vincent Davis served as moderator.
Representing NDC were Robert, Lynell, James, Christina, Kevin Foster, Arnel Macaspac, William Middlebrooks, Pastor Jack Miranda, Dr. Tuolu Thao, and Paul.
These conversations are an important part of strengthening partnerships, sharing community perspectives, and exploring how we can better connect LMI communities with resources and opportunities.
