💡 Take advantage of no-cost and low-cost energy-saving measures.
🏊 Visit a community cooling center, pool, or park instead of running your AC all afternoon.
🔎 Take a free 5-minute Home Energy Checkup to learn where your home uses the most energy.
🏠 Caulk gaps around doors and windows to keep cool air in.
⚡ If you depend on electricity for certain medical needs, see if you qualify for the Medical Baseline Program.
👕 Bonus tip: Hang your laundry outside and take advantage of those longer summer days.

Small changes can help reduce energy use and keep your home comfortable.

🏡 Rebuilding? Save on Energy-Efficient Technology.

For eligible homeowners rebuilding or repairing homes in the Eaton and Palisades wildfire-affected areas, Southern California Edison’s SWITCH program offers incentives to help reduce the cost of qualifying energy-efficient upgrades.

Eligible technologies include:

• Heat pump HVAC systems

• Heat pump water heaters

• Heat pump clothes dryers

• Induction ranges or cooktops

• Smart thermostats

💰 Incentives range from $100 to $2,400, and customers may be able to combine upgrades for greater savings.

Funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis through 2028 or until funds are exhausted.

NDC is proud to share resources that can help communities rebuild smarter, more efficiently, and with greater savings.

💡 Want to be money smart? Start with two simple habits: Budgeting & Saving.

Meet Nikita Pramod, Youth Ambassador for NDC’s Financial Literacy Program.

Kit shares two simple ways young people—and families—can become more intentional with their money:

Budgeting isn’t just about knowing how much money you have, spend, or save. It’s about understanding where your money goes and making thoughtful choices.

Try this simple activity: Get 3 jars and label them:

2️⃣ Saving
Saving means setting a little bit of money aside for the future. You may think a small amount won’t make much of a difference—but those small amounts can add up surprisingly quickly.

And financial literacy isn’t about being rich.

“It’s making do with what money you already have.”

Through NDC’s Youth Financial Literacy Program, we strive to educate students about financial literacy in ways that are fun, engaging, and relatable—because learning about money shouldn’t feel intimidating.

Sometimes, the most meaningful connections happen when people simply come together.

On August 8, Faith Bautista Tamashiro and Irene Bercasio attended COFFAC’s International Asian American Business Expo (IAABE) 2026 at the Torrance Marriott Redondo Beach.

What stood out was not just the number of businesses, organizations, and leaders in one room—it was the people behind them.

Entrepreneurs sharing their journeys. Business leaders exchanging ideas. Professionals meeting someone new and discovering a shared connection. Aspiring entrepreneurs finding encouragement from those who had already taken the first step.

And then, as the day transitioned into a multicultural gala, the room became an even greater reflection of what happens when different communities come together. With Consul Generals from various countries in attendance, it was a beautiful reminder that while our backgrounds and stories may be different, we all value the same things: connection, opportunity, community, and the chance to make a difference.

For Faith and Irene, being there was more than attending an event. It was about listening, learning, building relationships, and being reminded that behind every organization, business, and title is a person with a story.

Because sometimes, one conversation can open a door.
One introduction can become a partnership.
And one genuine connection can make someone feel that they belong.

That is the humanity of community—and that is what makes gatherings like this meaningful.
