We are so forgetful as humans! God will will provide for us again and again, and as soon as something goes wrong or we feel anxious, we doubt Him and start worrying. Remember that He who feeds the sparrows also cares for you. He loves you!

Some Gayla to brighten your feed! Gayla was the epitome of magazine-worthy— from her lifestyle of making a house feel like home, her decorating prowess, her expert hostess skills, and her beautiful looks, we would not have been surprised to see her featured on the cover of a fabulous editorial one day.

But what made Gayla the most memorable was her heart— the way she could make you feel seen, heard, and loved, just by being there. The way she wouldn’t take no for an answer when you’d swing by, offering you a cookie and some company. And most of all, her heart for Jesus. Gayla lived for other people, especially other women, to understand how God sees them and find freedom and joy in that knowledge & truth.

Gayla truly created and lived out a legacy of being the hands and feet of Jesus, and we hope to spread that legacy through the passion and love she poured into Creating Refuge.

So Gayla, this is to you. We love you and miss you! 🤍

There is something sacred about wildflowers.

They don’t rush to bloom. They don’t compare themselves to the flowers beside them. They simply grow where the Creator has planted them, receiving His care day by day.

How often do we forget that same invitation is extended to us?

We were never created to strive for our worth, exhaust ourselves trying to prove our value, or carry burdens God never asked us to bear. Jesus points to the flowers as a reminder that the Father’s care is constant, intentional, and more than enough.

Today, may you pause long enough to notice His faithfulness in the ordinary—the warmth of the sun, the beauty of creation, a quiet moment with Him.

Perhaps the first step toward creating refuge isn’t doing more.

Perhaps it’s trusting the One who has been faithfully caring for you all along.

“Consider the lilies, how they grow...” — Luke 12:27 🤍

Everything I’m doing to prepare for the new month includes doing nothing, with my Heavenly Father. Sometimes the most important thing on the to-do list is simply letting yourself breathe and letting the Lord replenish your soul.

Before the new month begins, I’m choosing rest over rushing.Not because everything is finished, but because God never asked me to carry tomorrow today.

A slow walk. A good book. Time with people I love. A little planning. A lot of prayer.

Rest isn’t falling behind. Sometimes it’s the most productive thing we can do because it reminds us that God is still in control.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

I hope you find a little peace today before the week begins.

Not who the world says you are. Not who your mistakes say you are. Not who your worst day says you are. Who Christ says you are.
These words ring true every day. Christ didn’t come to make you more presentable. He came to heal the shame that told you that you weren’t enough in the first place — and to free you into the woman He already created you to be. Put down the shame. It was never yours to carry.

“You are fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14
