💚 Yesterday we celebrated someone truly special: KT Travers, at Bolton Hall Museum!
Huge thank you to The Village Poets, and especially Joe De Cenzo and Alice Pero, for welcoming us into your inspiring monthly reading to honor KT — our Foothills Poet Laureate and one of the founding voices behind ST Forward back in 2020.
KT has poured her heart into this community: from co-organizing Foothills Pride and Indigenous Peoples Day, to championing native plant restoration at Big Tuxuunga Canyon, to helping turn an 800-foot median on Foothill Blvd into what will become our Welcome Garden. She served on the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council, gave countless volunteer hours, and made sure this community knows what it means to truly belong.
As KT steps down from the ST Forward board to focus on her wellness and new journeys, we just want to say: thank you, KT, for the gardens, the poems, the festivals, the voices you've amplified, and the community you've helped shape into something more welcoming, joyful, and artful. 🌿📖

🌱 Thank you to all our incredible volunteers who showed up for Sunland-Tuxuunga Forward's first-ever Big Tuxuunga Canyon Breakfast Club yesterday! It was wonderful.
We spent the morning giving some much-needed water to the hundreds of native trees and shrubs we've planted in the meadow, and pulled invasive Russian thistle to help our native plants thrive.
Thank you to for being our extraordinary partners in so many successful Big Tuxuunga events. Special thanks to Lara and Ashley!
And of course, huge thanks to for their incredible generosity — their out-of-this-world pastries and delicious coffee fueled us up and helped us power through the morning. 🥐☕
Grateful for this community and everyone who shows up to care for this land. Join our next Breakfast Club event on August 30th! 💚
