Magdalini Vraila is an architect based in Los Angeles, specializing in high-end corporate and hospitality interiors. Originally from Athens, Greece, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.Arch and started her career working primarily on core and shell ground up construction. Her love for interiors, led her to Rottet Studio, where she currently works as a senior designer.

My work is driven by a passion for creating spaces that go beyond function—environments that elevate the human experience through thoughtful design, materiality, light, and spatial composition. I enjoy exploring how circulation, movement, and spatial sequences shape the way we connect with architecture, believing that the journey through a space is just as important as the destination.

I'm excited to join IIDA because it represents a collaborative community that inspires innovation, encourages the exchange of ideas, and celebrates the impact of thoughtful design.

Amira Marouf brings more than 12 years of experience in California’s design community, beginning her career in residential design before transitioning into commercial interiors and workplace solutions. With a background spanning design, client relationships, and project ex*****on, she brings a thoughtful, collaborative perspective to her work with clients and industry partners, while staying actively involved in the design community through mentorship and volunteer work.

Curiosity and creativity are a big part of who Amira is, she loves traveling and experiencing new cultures, speaks three languages, plays the piano, and practices aerial silks. These experiences continually shape her perspective, keep her curious, and inspire the way she connects with people.

Built by Clune Construction (), these projects offer a behind-the-scenes look at how thoughtful design, collaboration, and ex*****on come together to create sophisticated, high-performance workplace environments.

My name is Malin, and I am your local Tri-West A&D Representative in Orange County and the Inland Empire, representing a wide range of commercial and residential flooring manufacturers. I grew up in Sweden, and being exposed to different cultures and perspectives from an early age has always been an important part of who I am. I enjoy meeting people, learning about their experiences, and building genuine relationships.

I work with all types of flooring projects—nothing is off the table! Whether it’s a multifamily community, healthcare facility, school, hospitality project, commercial space, or residential project, I enjoy helping find the right flooring solution for each application.

To me, my work is about building relationships and helping designers find flooring solutions that not only look beautiful, but also perform in the real world. I enjoy bringing products, ideas, and resources to the table that can make the design process easier.

What I enjoy most about my work is that no two projects are the same. I love the variety and the opportunity to work with designers, understand what they are trying to accomplish, and help find flooring options that bring their vision to life.

I believe the best relationships are built by being a resource. My goal is to be someone designers and project teams can call when they need ideas, product information, samples, or help finding the right flooring solution for a project.

Robyn is a Design Principal at Westgroup Designs, an Irvine-based Architecture & Interior Design firm serving clients nationwide. With more than 35 years of commercial design experience, she is a strategic design leader known for transforming complex business challenges into environments that elevate performance, experience, and brand.

Her work bridges business strategy and design, aligning people, place, and purpose to create environments that are both highly functional and distinctly authentic. A past NeoCon speaker and guest lecturer in Innovation and Design Management at UC Irvine’s Merage Graduate School of Business, Robyn’s work has been featured in national and regional publications and recognized with multiple IIDA Calibre Awards.

Robyn’s involvement with IIDA dates to its inception in 1994, when she served as a Vice President leading multiple sectors. Elected President of IIDA Southern California in 2015, she led the Chapter to its prestigious International Chapter of the Year Award. Following her presidency, Robyn was elected Chapter Advisor to the Executive Board of Directors, a leadership role she has proudly held for the past eight years.

A Certified Interior Designer, Robyn holds a B.F.A. Degree in Interior Architectural Design from California State University, Long Beach.

My name is Abi Thompson, and I am currently in my second year at Orange Coast College pursuing my associate in Interior Design. I have always had a passion for design, problem solving and human connection, so I am very excited for what my future holds within my career path.

IIDA has been such a beautiful tool for me. As a student it is so important to be able to connect with fellow designers that are already within the field. Being able to ask questions and feel a part of the community already has brought me such anticipation for my future after graduation!

Throughout my courses and exploring ideas with other designers, I have become most passionate about sustainable design and creating thoughtful spaces for people. I am looking forward to working with a team of similar minded individuals to learn from and create spaces with meaningful and intentional design!

Celebrating Leadership, Community & the Future of Design at the 2026 IIDA SoCal Leaders Breakfast

On Friday, September 25, the IIDA Southern California Chapter welcomed design professionals, industry partners, students, and community leaders to the Sheraton Grand at The BLOC in Downtown Los Angeles for the 2026 Leaders Breakfast. The annual event brought the Southern California design community together for a morning of connection, inspiration, and celebration.

This year’s event centered on the theme of , recognizing the impact that leadership, creativity, and community can have on the design industry.

We were honored to recognize Cynthia Sigler, AIA, and Alex Athenson, AIA, Co-Founders of The Foothill Catalog Foundation (), as the recipients of the 2026 Leadership Award of Excellence.

The Chapter also celebrated Lennis Serrano, IIDA, AIA, Interior Designer at DLR Group (), as the 2026 Emerging Leader Award recipient.

The morning’s Keynote Speaker, Sekou Andrews, award-winning spoken word artist, and founder of SekouWorld, Inc. (), brought his signature Poetic Voice to the stage.
