Mental health is just as important as physical health and creativity can be a powerful tool in supporting it 💭✨

At Theatre of Hearts, we see every day how artistic expression creates space for young people to process emotions, build confidence, and feel seen. Studies show that youth who engage in the arts are 45% less likely to experience symptoms of depression and anxiety and that impact is real in our classrooms.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to continue creating safe, creative spaces where healing and self-expression go hand in hand.

Celebrating Women’s History Month through the voices and visions of our students. 🎨✨
This collage features artwork from our youth inspired by the creativity, strength, and impact of women past and present. Through color, storytelling, and imagination, our young artists explored what empowerment, resilience, and leadership look like to them.
We’re proud to uplift their perspectives and honor the countless women who continue to shape our world. 💜

Jacob Lawrence centered Black history in American art.
Kerry James Marshall centers Black life in contemporary painting.
Betye Saar reclaimed racist imagery and transformed it into resistance.
Alison Saar carries that legacy forward through sculpture rooted in memory and myth.
Different generations. Different mediums.
One throughline: visibility, power, and refusal of erasure.
This is legacy in motion.

Honoring Reverend Jesse Jackson — a preacher, activist, and relentless advocate for justice whose voice has inspired generations. Theatre Of Hearts gives thanks, gratitude, and immense appreciation to Reverend Jesse Jackson for his relentless advocacy for justice. From marching alongside Martin Luther King Jr. to building the Rainbow Coalition and running for president, he has fought tirelessly to create a more equitable world. His life reminds us of the power of hope, the strength of courage, and the importance of standing for what’s right. We send our deepest condolences to his family, as well as his Rainbow Coalition community. ✊🏾

A tender reminder from one of our young artists at Mujeres y Hombres Nobles: the world thrives when we hold it with care.
In this piece, the earth rests gently in open arms, surrounded by symbols of peace, renewal, and all the quiet beauty that keeps us hopeful.
The rising sun, soft wings of a dove, and drifting butterflies invite us to pause and imagine a world where compassion guides us and creativity lights the way.
Through art, our students show us what’s possible — a future nurtured with intention, love,
and a deep respect for the planet we share. 🌿

✨ A gallery of young voices, creativity, and possibility from a number of our sites in Los Angeles County.
Every piece in this collage was created by our talented students, each one a reflection of the stories, colors, and emotions they carry into our classrooms. At Theatre Of Hearts, we’re continually inspired by the way youth transform imagination into art that speaks, heals, and uplifts.
Here’s to the power of creativity—and to the brilliant young artists shaping their own
futures, one brushstroke at a time. 🎨
