🎨✨ Creativity takes many forms!

Check out this incredible student artwork created by youth at Camp Vernon Kilpatrick through Theatre Of Hearts/Youth First. Our Artist Mentor Veronica D. wanted the youth to let go of their expectations and find joy in the experimentation and exploration of their own artistry.

We’re proud to create spaces where young people can make, experiment, and let their voices be seen through art.

A portrait. A gesture. A story. 🎨

Through art, young people can explore identity, perspective, and self-expression in ways that don’t always require words.

These student artworks from Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall demonstrate the power of creativity to encourage young artists to see themselves, and the world around them, from new perspectives.

Dino-mite prints! 🦖🎨

In this printmaking class, students designed and created their own dinosaur plates before turning their designs into one-of-a-kind prints.

From idea → plate → print, students get to experience the full creative process while building new artistic skills along the way.

“Learning to let go”, by Bailey. 🦋

This powerful drawing, showcases a striking reflection on freedom, transformation, and hope.

Art gives young people a space to process their experiences, imagine possibilities, and express what words sometimes cannot.

As we transition into a new school year, we wanted to take a moment to highlight one of our Documentary Filmmaking Programs from the 2025-2026 school year.

Students at Walt Whitman High School created documentaries focused on the housing insecurity crisis in the city as a part of their schoolwide Project-Based Learning Tiny Homes Project, transforming their alternative solutions and ideas into action and learning into legacy.

Site Principal, Dr. Simone Charles, shared that the project birthed “the building of confidence, the strengthening of voice, and the rise of young people who are beginning to see themselves not just as students, but as change agents.”

This is what happens when young people get the opportunity to tell their own stories.
