Many of us want to clean with products that are safe for people and the environment, but what eco labels can we actually trust?⁠
⁠
Terms like "green" and "eco friendly" are unregulated, resulting in companies their products to make them appear safer or more environmentally friendly than they truly are 👎🏽⁠

With all this confusion, where should we turn? We recommend checking out the EPA's Safer Choice label. Approval for Safer Choice involves a rigorous process of evaluating a product's ingredients and formulation to make a well rounded and science-based decision on it's human and environmental safety ✅⁠

BIG thanks to City of Santa Monica Government's Amber Richane and Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company's Jessie Buckmaster for an awesome tour of the new Living Building Challenge CITY SERVICES BUILDING! Been hearing a lot about it for some years, exciting to see it this far and opening is Earth Day! Especially cool to see the massive composters in basement (pictured) among so many things to do with natural daylight, water use, the edible garden and so on. Regular tours available once opens. ONLY MUNICIPAL LBC bldg in US! Couple more historic takeaways:
- 1st project in CA to convert rainwater to potable water
- 1st project in CA to use composting toilets
- Everything they've learned and all the permitting have had to work with the County on, has laid the groundwork for others. THANK YOU!

VERY TIMELY for New Year: City of Santa Monica Government Office of Sustainability is hosting an 'Energy Reach Code' Lunch n Learn on January 23, 2020 at the Santa Monica Main Library Multi-Purpose Room 10:00 AM-Noon.

The WORKSHOP target audience includes architects, developers, designers, energy modelers, sustainability professionals, and green building enthusiasts who are involved with new construction projects.

Panelists include Ben Stapleton, Nick Brown, Bruce Cheney, Drew Lowell Johnstone, Ariana Vito

Learn how to meet local energy codes and build all-electric buildings that are healthier, safer, and zero emissions.
