Türkiye says this campaign is about protecting families and children. But targeting LGBT+ people, organizations, businesses, websites, and civil society is not protection. It is state-sanctioned repression.

Authorities say the investigations span 15 provinces and involve 162 suspects, nine associations, and 13 businesses.

Afghanistan’s Roshaniya stands with LGBT+ Turks.

No government gets to hunt people for who they are and expect the world to look away. Release everyone detained for peaceful LGBT+ advocacy. If they remain in cells, the Turkish government’s brutality will not go unanswered.

Five years ago today, Afghanistan fell once again under Taliban rule. For LGBT Afghans, the consequences were immediate and devastating.

Over these five years, Roshaniya has stood with our community. We helped LGBT Afghans reach safety, provided emergency assistance, documented persecution, and raised our voices internationally when so many of our people had nowhere else to turn.

Today, we remember those we lost, those who were forced into hiding, those who fled their homeland, and those who continue to endure.

But August 15 must not belong only to the Taliban.

Five years later, we are still here.

Our struggle is no longer simply about survival. We are fighting for a future in which LGBT Afghans can live openly in their own homeland—protected by law, equal in citizenship, and free from persecution.

Until that day comes, Roshaniya will continue to speak.

For dignity. For freedom. For Afghanistan.
