Architecture + Advocacy Change your neighborhood. Change the world.

We believe everyone, not just trained architects, should �have a hand in designing their homes, businesses, and neighborhoods. We achieve this mission through five programs:
1) Cost-Free Architecture Workshops for 3rd-12th grade students and their parents
2) Pro-Bono Design-Builds that bring new resources to underserved neighborhoods
3) Community Outreach + Events
4) Advocacy Campaigns for Spatial Justice
5) Leadership Development that equips the next generation of designers with the skills to practice community-engaged design.

We’re excited to introduce five incredible members of our Board of Directors who bring diverse experiences, perspectives, and a shared commitment to community empowerment and equitable design!

London – Director of Network Engagement & Community Building at Social Good Solutions, dedicated to empowering Black communities and advancing social justice.

Bee Rarewala – Chief Strategy Officer at AC Martin, bringing expertise in business strategy, architecture, and industry leadership.

Suna Sen – Senior Urban Designer at Sasaki, passionate about civic infrastructure and community-driven public spaces.

Bhavana Shyamsundar – Managing Director of A+A’s LA Chapter, bringing creativity and a passion for community-centered design.

Allison Wilson – Director of Communications at Ryman Arts, using strategic storytelling to amplify meaningful causes and community voices.

Hey everyone! Architecture + Advocacy NY will be hosting our first Columbia GSAPP student chapter meeting of the semester this Wednesday, October 7 at 6pm in Avery 115.

Focused on combatting injustice through community-led design, we run design workshops and design-builds with local community partners. Last year we also made a publication of student/alumni work around the theme of collective repair. It’s a great opportunity to have hands on work and build new skills! If this sounds interesting to you please stop by to learn more! We will also have food :))

Do you know a creative young person in Los Angeles interested in community impact? Architecture might be for them!

Pre-Registration for our “Architecture in Action: Design Lab” is now live. Link our bio!

Participants will:
- Participate in fun, hands-on, arts based activities that explore the world around them
- Design and build a custom piece of furniture that solves a need of the Inner-City Arts community
- Interview users to understand their needs
- Learn basic architectural drawing techniques, like floor plans and sections
- Engage with current USC architecture students to learn what it’s like to study architecture
- Build lasting friendships with other young people who share their creativity!

Classes are every Saturday in the fall and spring semester.

Classes begin next Saturday, Sept. 19. After students pre-register, they are required to come to our Enrollment Day this Saturday, Sept. 12 to finalize their classes and pay any registration fee. If students can’t make it to Enrollment Day on this shorter notice, they can come to our campus the week leading up to the first day of class.
